RC‘s job is safe, Donnie will probably get a publicly announced job guarantee, too. Nothing will change at the positions that matter. These guys are all way too close with each other.

The question is, is there a coach out there that is undoubtedly better than RC? And I don't think there is. Maybe Dantoni but he's never done anything on the big stage.
But it's hard to say RC has done a great job the last 3 years.
The failure to incorporate KP in the playoffs means a change is necessary. KP is going to ask out and justifiably so. Assuming Carlisle is part of the front office, the roster construction is a major failing to go along with the KP debacle. Not as bad as the Rondo trade, but not much help either. That said, Donnie and Carlisle are going no where and now we get to hope Luka is as loyal as Dirk.
We are a long way from having a championship team. At least the front office got a glimpse of the good, bad and inconsistencies of all of the free agents on our roster.

There's a reason Donnie won't be fired, and that reason is that Cuban is really the final decision maker. The current front office knows and accepts that. Cuban isn't going to fire himself, and I'd argue that changing to a new GM, one who doesn't know how things work with Cuban, might have difficulty working around Cuban well enough to even match the function we've been seeing from them lately.
It's Cuban's toy, boys and girls. If you want to change things, go and sell your company to Amazon or Apple and make him an offer. It's the only way. Other than that, we should just stick to talking about smaller things that have a chance to happen, imo.

Then, how about a “promotion” for Donnie! Or maybe Donnie can become GM for European operations and someone else can handle the domestic side. Donnie doesn’t have much of a feel for USA basketball.

The point is: no matter who they call "GM," Cuban is the one deciding which players to bring in. That will NEVER, EVER change until he dies, and then one his kids will probably start doing it. Taking Donnie's job away would be pointless.

The best thing for the team would be bringing in Ujiri or Ainge but like you said I doubt it happens.
Big offseasons the next 2 years, Luka doesn’t seem like the sort of guy to accept mediocrity. Keeping him happy and engaged with the team is imperative short and long term.

That reminds me of when they signed Gersson Rosas to be the "GM" in 2013. He left 3 months later, probably after realizing he was the GM in name only.

Exactly right. Dude saw what the job was, suggested some things he knew the boss didn't want to hear, and then the two parties agreed to go their separate ways.
Now, one of the rumors at the time was that Rosas wanted to trade Dirk, which, on paper might've been the right move at the time, but thankfully, Cuban just didn't want to hear it. So, the way the Mavs do things isn't ALL bad. There is definitely some bad, and there is enough frustration to go around. But, the stuff people think would suddenly be better with a new front office likely wouldn't change, and some of what they take for granted might get worse. Just my opinion.

There is something that could shake things up and we are slowly heading towards that. Ain't no one going to like it when it's here though.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I don't want to worry about it until it's real, but part of me wonders how in the Hell Cuban would try to spin that in the media.

To be fair. Rosas track record with the Wolves suggests that his advise wasn´t the best.

My goodness gracious.
If you're one of the players that came off the bench and saw that stat, how can you not just hang your head in absolute shame?

How can a guy like Cuban be so successful in so many other fields and not learn from trial and error in this one?
Do we all really believe that Josh Green over Saddiq and Bane was Cuban's pick? The most frustrating part of that was that both of those guys fit the mold of successful recent Mavs pick-ups (DFS and Brunson). Moreover, a scout would have to think that Green had an astronomical ceiling indeed in comparison to his abilities at the end of '20 in order to think there was any possibility of his being better than Saddiq and Bane by the '22-'23 season. You know what it reminds me of the most? Samaki Walker. "What are our needs? Oh, this guy, whether he's good enough for what we're looking for or not." Shane Larkin a close second. But if Cuban is really Frank Zaccanelli, it really is a miracle that the franchise has done as well as it has the past 21 years (which aside from one single draft, is "not very well").

Has he been successful, or did he just happen to be the guy to put radio on the internet? That's obsolete and irrelevant now. What has he done since?
If you want to know how the tech community feels about Cuban, watch Silicon Valley. This guy is based on Cuban:

Cuban inherited a roster with two future MVPs. After some badly constructed rosters in the early 00s he let one of them go and build around the other. They couldn´t sign any useful guys to come play next to a top 15-20 player of all time. Don´t want to think about the 00s Mavs without Dirk.

There is only one coach I would have considered firing Rick Carlisle for...and he just signed a fat new contract with the Texas Longhorns.
