Not really. There were 3 reports according to the Hawks site if you read. All mentioning Collins alone brought that up. Collins acting as a coach.
There is no report of coach being involved in this. If this was coaches opinion so there would nevet have been an issue in fitst case. He would just then alttered his tactics and called more plays for Collins. End of problem. Would nevet have been issue.
So the most likely cause is Collins. Instead of going to the coach, he acted as a coach. He stabbed the coach and Young in the back and the entire franchise.
He is a terrible defender according to most Hawks fans. I really see no fit here.
Who gets the most out of this? Collins. Look whats happening with Trae: he plays awful now and his image is hurt. So i cant see how in world this should benefit Young. Prior to this he was in perfect situation and even called potential MVP. So the act of Collins has hurt his game and image a lot.
I hope we stay away from Collins. Maybe even at all costs even if we got him for just Powell. He has offensive skills but its clear he is not a winner.

To that point I think Bagley would thrive here if he could get over himself which will probably be the downfall of his career.
Sacramento is fubar and unless you are a transcendent player (Fox, Boogie), it's going to be hard to thrive there, much less develop.

I agree with the overall point, but I don't think Fox is transcendent at all. I was super high on him before that draft, and hoped he'd fall to the Mavs. I LOVE speed. But, I think he has developed very little since then, perhaps because of being in Sacramento (like you suggest).
Haliburton, otoh, is playing well right away. Much better than Fox, imo. HE might be transcendent.

I'm sorry, I know I'll get flamed for this, but I have to be honest.
I'm pissed off that the Mavs seem to be one of the three least successful teams when it comes to dealing with this virus. Maybe everyone is right, and it will hit everyone eventually, but I don't know. All we know right now is that they TALKED a lot during training camp about how the team who handles Covid the best will have a significant advantage, and then 1/8th of the way through the season they're one of the first teams to have major issues with all of this.
And just when things were starting to work on the court. Disappointing, imo.

Another game postponed. Looks like if you have less than 8 players available the game is postponed but the league is not buying usual "load management" type of excuses as unavailable.

So, if your star player returns a positive test its best to have a 15 minute group hug

This is encouraging, actually.
Can ANYONE explain what leads to postponement vs. what leads to a forfeit?

So far, Jeremi Grant has to be the surprise signing of this season, as far as I didn't see the drastic improvement coming. Maybe Christian Wood is the other. Grant is averaging 25 pts a game for Detroit, and is the 1st option on offense. Yeah, they're still losing on a rebuilding team, but Grant has been quite a surprise to me. He's scored 20 or more pts in 9 straight games.

How's this for a COVID strategy for the Mavs:
1. Invite the entire team and coaching staff over to Maxi's place for a group hug, complete with shared food & drinks.
2. No games for the next 2 weeks, while the entire team recovers.
3. Play the entire rest of the season at full strength, bulletproofed with antibodies.
Alternately, deliver strategic covid-laced pizzas to other team's superstars once the playoffs start.
This assumes, of course, that vaccine deployment is slow as molasses.

Given that the virus mutates this isn't as bulletproof as I think you want it to be.

I always try to stop myself from thinking: this will hurt our title chances or play-off chances or hey more playing time for rookies.
I can´t say that I´m always successful. Just shows how detached you are,in reality, from the team you love.
It´s so messed up, when you think about it. These are human beings dealing with a potentially deadly virus that has killed around 2M people world wide and seemingly can have serious long-term side effects as well.
Most of the biggest sports going right now, whether it´s soccer, american football, all the wintersports are happening outside and have more natural protection and spacing than basketball. Baketball is basically the perfect petri dish for this virus. Indoors, very close contact game for an extended period of time, with a high game turnover and travel frequency.
I think the NBA underestimated this and had a false sense of security due to the success of the bubble.
I wouldn´t blame the NBAPA one bit if they just said: Nope, this is just a fucking game, not our lives.

God I hate the Mavs so much for not offering Lavine the max two years ago.
35/5/7, 9/14 from three, going toe to toe with Kawhi. All these discussions about how to find that 3rd guy.
I begged them to just give the super young Lavine or Randle a big offer. There was literally NO RISK in a four year deal, because this rebuild was always going to take a minimum of 2-3 years and that was the DONCIC best case. Imagine we´d have Bagley or WCS right now. We´d stíll be in last place in the West.
That was such piss poor management. Ugh.

I think if I am Houston, I´d take Lavert, Allen, Shamet, Harris and two 1sts for Harden in a heartbeat.
Wall/Gordon
LeVert/Shamet
Harris/House
Wood/Tucker
Allen/Cousins
That´s a real deep team as long as they can stay healthy.

One underrated problem with COVID is that you have this quick start and condensed schedule and players having to compensate for short-handed rosters, which only increases the risk for other serious injuries. Another reason I wasn´t so happy Rick didn´t utilize the bench a little more against the Magic.

Totally agree this was severly underrated. Players didn't receive proper offseason and were thrown into a very condensed schedule. I think we can already see a large number of injuries, many of them season ending.

Can OKC repeat last surprise season? THey are just beating the crap out of BKN and will be 5-4 after this one. Mavs legend Roby with another solid performance.
