GAME 5: LAL Refs (4-1) @ DAL (3-2) | 110-119 OT loss | NBA admits missed call
Really disappointing game on a number of levels but I will always be the most frustrated with the inability to hit free throws down the stretch. Mavs used to be one of the consistently best FT shooting teams every year but at some point they just seem to have forgotten whatever helped get them there. Dirk was obviously a huge part of it but it feels like that part of the team culture is just gone now.

Good. I hope every player RT that pic tonight. Make the NBA answer for such garbage.

Teams will have their handful to beat the Lakers 8 on 5 four times. Credit to Dwight with two big plays. I mean both were fouls, but who cares as long as it´s the Lakers.

Porzingis was poor. Stop dribbling and driving, you suck at it. Did you know Dwight spends 10 hours in the gym every day. Still can´t hit a FT.

Also Carlisle had a shocker. Did he use his challenge?

Couldnt challenge cause he had 0 timeouts as usual. What a frustrating loss
He could still have challenged Dwight busting Luka open. He also could have challenged the LeBron travel, where he jumped in the air and landed with the ball before passing. He´s probably too OLD SCHOOL for such game-altering decisions. Twice he could have overturned OBVIOUS calls (Porzingis loose ball foul and Bron travel), and each time the other team scored (Portland and Lakers). Also no idea why he took out Kleber for Powell with like five minutes to play. Defense wokring too well?

Cannot challenge no calls. Learn the rules before you start complaining.
Figures the NBA would make dumb rules again, that cover their asses. So as long as the refs swallow their whistles the designated winners are safe.   Rolleyes

None bigger than Dwight holding Curry on the three by Green that sent it to OT. Players, coaches and Cuban better collect some 25k fines and won't spare with insults. These motherfuckers don't deserve to call another game.

This is what bothers me the most. I understand the refs are human, but they literally get paid 6 figures to do this. They should be the most elite of the elite, and trained thousands of hours.

But these so called professionals miss THIS many calls?? Like C'mon! I don't think the NBA is rigged (Besides 06), because there are too many factors to rig a game, but you can certainly call in favor for a team. Lakers won every 50/50 call. Got literally everything to go their way. And they still needed an uncalled hold to send the game to overtime.

The amount of contact LAL got away with on Luka is disgusting. Like actually disgusting to the point Luka may have a concussion (on contact that was never called!!).

And the worst part about it is that these refs will not be held accountable for a performance like this. At any other job, you'd get reprimanded at the least for blowing it this many times, if you weren't terminated. As a student you'd fail and face the repercussions if you miss questions on tests, why do refs not face the same?

I fucking loath how the NBA protects the refs as if they get it correctly most of the time. They don't. And the L2M report that confirms this garbage is meaningless. Fines. Suspensions. Demotions. Thats whats needed. If a ref is this poor at their job, send them to the D-League, and promote someone else from the D-League.
You work under the wrong assumption that the NBA does not want refs to call "bad" games like this. They do exactly the job they are supposed to.

That's what I've been preaching for years. NBA protects their refs at all costs, because they are key for the integrity of the product. On such a night fans have to be a factor and protect home court at all cost. Refs doing this shit in soccer is hard to imagine. They would hear chants for 60 minutes and probably even get stuff thrown at them.

Our poor FT shooting cost us the game, but that no-call on the Green three seemed to take the life out of everybody except Luka. The team looked pretty lifeless in OT.

Porzingis let us down big time in the fourth and OT. Maybe he doesn't have that x-factor that true alphas have. Or maybe he's just not in game shape yet. But he's supposed to be the man after Luka, 1A and 1B or whatever.

Oh well guys need to shake the loss off. Porzingis needs to work on his game. We can win 50 games this season. At least now we put the notion of KP being better than Luka to rest. Luka is still looking for his Robin. Imagine if Luka has Anthony Davis as his Robin

That missed call was bad but we lost this game mainly because..

1. Stupid decision by Maxi on that final possession.
2. Free throws....again.
3. KP disappearing act in the 2nd half.

I will open by saying this:

I wish Luka would shut up and stop complaining to the refs....

...BUT DAMN the reffing toward him has been terrible and was just atrocious tonight overall.

Also, the last two games we missed a lot of easy layups. We missed 4-5 easy bunnies in the 1st half.

Its times like this where its important to remember this is KP's 5th game in 2 years.

He's still working his way back. He didn't play the best, but there were far worst performers tonight than him (COUGH POWELL, COUGH THJ).

Even Brunson seemed lost.

Carlisle lost his marbles and forgot that Maxi was the best defender for AD, and put Powell in instead. Carlisle also lost his marbles because Wright never came back into the game after 8:00 mins left in the 4th. Powell missed a crucial free throw (heck everyone missed FT's).

But the biggest reason was the refs. Gave LAL everything they needed and then some.

To many former Knicks on the floor. Don´t know what they teach them in NY but the decision making and shot selection from KP and THJ is all time bad.

He´s just not going to score on dribble drives in the halfcourt, when the paint is loaded. Doesn´t have the greatest touch finishing through contact either . Just let him go to the threes, quick releases and lob passes.

Carlisle is starting to lose me. Maxi was doing a good job on AD in the 1st half. I am totally lost why he pulled him for Powell.

They learned from retired knickerbocker Carmelo Anthony. Shoot first think later.

Did we have a foul to give at the end of regulation?
