Hope this translates to a more patient approach. Powell is probably more useful if we are just talking about the max amount of wins next season but they picked the guy with more potential.

If things play out the way you all believe they will (i.e. the Mavs being a poor team this year), then I will be very disappointed if they don't move on from Kyrie.

Cooper Kyrie Risacher Lively and Santi is the lineup that I want to see happen once they are cleared to play and healthy enough to ramp up their game to NBA playoff level basketball.
We know that Cooper and Kyrie are there to compete and win so if Risacher Lively and Santi will just keep pace and maybe be they can step it up to become average slightly better rotation starters by midseason then maybe this team can go places besides going on losing streaks and start to dream of the playoffs. That size is what I want to see and when Kyrie sits you got Sergio coming in and still we got Morez Gafford Cisse PJ Naji Max Tarik and Sasser. We have way better 3 point shooting this year and way more size in the front court with some 3 point shooting there as well. Defense should be more stout and if the 3 pointers are hitting the offense should be enough if we can develop a clutch end of game mind set that these games belong to us and nobody comes into our house and wins anything.

If no one else kicks the tires, I expect DP will end up on our staff.

Maybe if Cuban was still calling the shots then he'd force Powell on the staff. But the new front office and coaching staff don't have any ties to Powell so I don't know how interested they'd be about keeping him as an assistant. But maybe one of the other coaches that he played for would take him like Carlisle, Mosley, or Sweeney

Many a times it’s not just about playing time. Teams keep these veterans because they serve as role models on work ethic and professionalism off the court.
Plus they accept their roles, don’t complain about not getting minutes but stay ready as opposed to younger players who might show it more openly when they don’t get on the court.
