I think maybe you should proofread this...unless his digestion is what held him back in Orlando, but surely that can't be right.

They can see what they want.  But if the tallies can't handle or pass, then reality sets in quick.

PJ Washington is the prime example of that.  He can handle fine, but playmaking ain't his forte.

Ha.  Exhibit one of getting older and needing reading glasses  when you use your phone to type.

Those who look at our roster and say, "Need to clear out one roster slot" are as wrong as Patsy Cline. Need two - to slot in Seva.

I think Howard and Poulakidis are better right now.

Seva has loads of potential,we can stash him and he can come on over next year

You can make a case that Seva deserves a two way spot, although I think in a higher tier Europe league is probably best for him.   Maybe Masai and Schmitz can use their network to find him someplace.   Heck, maybe with the team Tarek just left.

I really don't think the G league is best for player development.   Two way spots now are typically players who play real nba minutes during the season.   They often prefer mature older players.   In some ways, Seva play in the summer league maybe showed that it is ok that he doesn't get the American feel to his game right now.   He seemed fine with the speed and quickness of the NBA summer league.   Maybe if he was overwhelmed there may have been a bigger need for keeping him over here.    I personally would love to see him in college...unfortunately that can't happen.   Although, playing in a top tier Europe league will really help him grow.    The summer is still young too....things can change with a quick move or two.

My only quibble is right now there is no ball handler on a two way.    With Kyrie injury history and the lack of other ball handlers, we are real close to being in danger zone with an injury or two.    Although a lot of summer left.

I do like taking these swings though...even if they are longshots.

I'm pretty sure they will be making more moves.

Why is everyone assuming Poulakidis is getting the other spot? Are the two-ways multi-year deals or something? Excuse my ignorance.

Why? Because we are a forum full of knee-jerking assumption-making guessers!!

Everyone was always assuming Ishchenko is going to get a 2-way or better. It was gospel here when I disagreed with the assumption. Now the pendulum has swung. Go figure.

From what we have seen, I think everything is fairly fluid this summer for the Mavs. No idea what will be next. But one thing is certain - they still aren't done.

That can be fixed.

I can't get over how bad things must be going in your career to be a lottery pick (Howard was drafted one spot before Lively) and have the ENTIRE LEAGUE decide you're not worth a 2nd contract, even at the minimum. I'm not sure if I think this is a good gamble on talent for the Mavs or a colossal waste of time and resources.

Does he kill hookers as a hobby or something? Is he a drug addict?

Probably best not to get into the Seva talk here… Smile

Yeah it seems they do what rebuilding teams do. Try as many players as you can and see which one sticks. Might be a new concept for Mavs fans, since Cuban tried as many old guys as he could instead, to see whether one is Benjamin Button. This is just the normal approach. I like it.

Obviously everything on a small sample size, but that´s exactly what great franchises do. They see opportunities. They try and check whether it´s real.

Howard´s shooting improved once the Magic virtually fired him. He improved his shooting percentages last year by 4/8/25 percent to the previous season and 9/11/45 overall from his rookie year. 90% of times it probably is not real, but if you identify the best cases with the highest probabilities, you will hit somebody. And a former lottery pick that improves in shooting by that much is worth a try. Maybe it just falls apart with higher volume or he becomes an excellent shooter.

He shot 35/29/60 in his first two years. Magic decided against picking up his 2+2 option. Then he shot 42/37/95 for the rest of the year. Big Grin It´s basically the Risacher situation. For one team he´s a failed lottery pick on a high salary, while all the Mavs need is a solid rotation guy from 6 to 10 that they can pay accordingly.

He's a fun story, but I'm not sure his one skill is enough to make up for his other deficiencies.

I like to look at his splits (to make the sample size even smaller).  Last season he had 22 games where he got 10 minutes or less.  He was horrible shooting .283 from the field and .303 from three in those games.

However, in the 33 games where he got more than 10 minutes, he was .449 from the field and .393 from three.  In those 33 games he averaged 3.4 attempts from three per game.

Maybe he's a rhythm guy who needs some flow to be effective.  BTW, Max Christie was similar last season.  In 35 games where he got 30+ minutes his 3% was .430.  In the 37 games he got 20-30 minutes his 3% was .384 and in the five games where he got under 10 minutes his 3% was .278.
