MAVS NEWS:
I can't believe the Mavs are so good after have gifted a generation talent for nothing 18 months ago.

I can't believe the Lakers are not so good after they received a generation talent for nothing 18 months ago.

It's a miracle... Or Karma like i said the day after that trade.

Just shows how quickly things can change in NBA. It’s why I find all this discussion of “timelines” so silly.

Again, it depends on one's definition of contending. Yours is clearly different than DallasMaverick.

We agree that I don't think they should be trading 3 first round picks right now for someone like Giannis, Kawhi, etc.

Year 4 Flagg? Still on a rookie deal. I might think differently. We get a front row seat to his growth and development.

When you put it like that, I totally agree. If all goes well, that's about when I'd expect the team to have reason to think aggressively.

Obviously there will be different conversations in two years depending on where this team is at.  But if you really think your best window is within the next three years, that will affect your decisions now.  It sounds like you don't want to operate under that mindset right now so we are basically saying the same thing.  We can talk about what makes sense for the team in two years in two years.

Dusty May just said Cooper Flagg will play anywhere from 1-4 this season.

"Last year, Coop played a lot at the point and that expedited his growth, where he's playmaking and the ball's in his hands...I think he'll shoot more 3-pointers. We gotta get him more space."

Sergio will unlock Gafford and Lively again. The second unit has a real identity next season.

You know he I can actually see Cooper throwing down a few of of Larry's lobs.  He is going to have to start taking some of his drives to the rim and slamming them himself, but how do you defended some of his lobs, other than maybe Wimby.

Green had another good shooting night, I would guess he will be offered a Legends contract at least.

Smith can pretty well pack his bags, I would bet he will be released before camp to give him a chance to make it with another team.

I would really have a hard time not find Kao at least a 2 way after todays game.

Larry only had 14 more dimes and he passes on the money passes from 3 feet to 50, I know there will be ups and downs but he is the most pure PG the Mavs have and will love to see him Kyrie and Cooper on the court very soon.

Yes. If anything is obvious it’s that May wants to create tons of space, which is why they are after shooters and a main reason that Klay is probably going nowhere.

Considering our depth or lack thereof, he should get most his minutes at the 2.

Offensively that’s exactly how he’ll be used most of the time.

I think that was a Max dig.

And a Naji plug, 'cause, you know, he'll still be here starting at the three.

Even if I liked Christie, the statement would be the same.  We have a ton of depth 3-5 and Kyrie and Christie at 1-2 with a lot of inexperience behind them. You know what they say about assumptions though.

Given that Kyrie is more effective/comfortable at the two (next to a big PG) and Max is obviously not playing PG, you could probably make the argument that playing Flagg at the position of most need would be the 1.

While I appreciate that perspective and, depending on the day, might agree with it, I still think Kyrie "out of position" at the 1 is by far our best option at that spot.  Our cupboard feels bare at both spots and if we don't make any drastic changes, a lot of our big bodies are going to have to shift down a spot. This is one big bodied honking team.

It is.  Although if I am going to be honest I am kind of intrigued with both Sergio and Sasser and want to seem the get real minutes.

Sergio's looks comfortable enough to get thrown to the lions den of the NBA and as we are currently constructed, I think he'll get a crack or two at meaningful minutes.
