Trade & Free Agency 2026/2027

I think that is the most likely scenario. We all want moves to be made. That's part of the fun. I think what's most likely is that the Mavs are done making moves this summer, unless something blows them away. There's something to be said about maintaining the financial flexibility through the trade deadline in February. There's no rush to use it up now. By keeping the portion of the MLE and TPE unused, and the money below the Tax/Apron, they can be really aggressive and/or opportunistic at the trade deadline.

Not me. That's a pass for me. No more bad contracts.

Strus is an expiring $16.6m. Far from a bad contract. CLE only moves him if they need the $$ for LeBron+

What picks do the Cavs have available to pair with Strus currently? Looks like 2031 and 2033 is all they can legally move, right? That would be quite the haul if you can get one of those.

They can trade a '31 and/or '33 FRP. And they have (2) SRP's. Can also do pick swaps.

Ya even just a swap on either of those FRPs would be a great get to take on an expiring 16M.

If Strus is expiring I would not expect them to give assets to get off him.  Definitely not a first I would think.   They are probably hoping for a small asset like we are wanting for Klay.

My bad. I didn't realize he was expiring.

That situation changes quickly though when no one is willing to give up small assets and you're trying to take on another player.  They certainly wouldn't give up the first outright but a swap or the SRP isn't out of the question.  We put ourselves in a spot where we could flex a little bit of leverage if things fall the right way and having a swap on them in the 2030s could prove super valuable.  (Much like the LAL 2029 when Luka leaves and that pick ends up in the top 10 so we can take Eric Dampier Jr and I can feel as old as possible).

Some talk about the Clippers wanting Watson from Denver while also re-signing Mathurin

Also some talk that the Clippers/Toronto trade is not finalized because the Clippers may be trying to re-route Ingram.

So just for giggles, how about Gafford/Klay for Ingram.    Clippers get a rotation center and a expiring shooter while clearing out a potential logjam a the wing.

I just can't figure out why the  Mavs would want Ingram.

Neither can I. I certainly don't want him.

I'd still take Mathurin, though. The peer pressure has not worked!

Pacers officially announce the signing of forward Kelly Oubre Jr. And a question I had is answered: He will wear jersey number 10 for the Pacers. Oubre's past career numbers were all taken: 3 (Braden Smith), 9 (T.J. McConnell), and 12 (Johnny Furphy). A new era of Oubre.

Bob Myers didn’t mind laying out a case for the Sixers, who feel they’ve seriously strengthened their team by trading for Jaylen Brown. They’ve also drafted Labaron Philon Jr. and signed Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons and Ariel Hukporti. “When you’re talking about the Sixers, if he was here I’d say, ‘I honestly believe this is your best chance to win. You have to decide all the other equally important things.’ It’s his life, right? He has to play. He has to face the scrutiny of his decision,” Myers said. “Half the people will say, ‘You should’ve done this’ or ‘You should’ve done that’ and criticize him for whatever. It’s his life; he’s been through all that. What I would just say is, ‘If it’s about winning, let’s talk about this team, because you can win here in Philadelphia.’” Bob Myers, the president of sports for Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment, openly discussed LeBron James’ free agency on the “Game Over” podcast with Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and Max Kellerman. Paul had named the Sixers as a potential destination for James on a previous podcast.

This kind of thing never works. Lebron will never win another Championship and I am here for it.

The Mavericks' acquisition of the draft rights to Tarik Biberović from Memphis is not listed on the transaction log but league sources reiterate that Biberović is indeed Dallas-bound and on course to sign the deal we reported yesterday that will bring him to the NBA next season.

Morez Johnson tried to wear 7 and said that it was taken, Aldama wore 7 in Memphis and for the Spain national team now he’s switching to 34.

Dwight Powell last wore 7 and is currently a free agent.. does this mean.....

Honestly wouldn't mind bringing Powell back but the dude needs to transition into an advisory role at some point.

As long as we never retire his number I don't mind him hogging it.

Obviously, it wouldn't matter much in the grand scheme of things... But I'd be pretty disappointed if they made a move, even something like waiving Nemby, to bring back Powell. I think it's past time to move on there. Hire him as an assistant if you feel his presence is so important...
