$17mm for 26/27 with a $17mm Team Option for next season
Aldama is now part of the return for AD as both AJ and that pick came from the deal with Washington.

Something isn't adding up because on paper a versatile defender that can be a first option on offense should have superstar impact.
Those same analytics are what lowered his value, and Boston didn't help the situation either. Boston was determined to get off his deal. Between him and Tatum, they were paying out just under 600 million for two players.

I can't say the moves make sense yet, but I do have faith that they'll make sense in the end. I really like the trade as far as value and talent return. We definitely need some guards though..lol

Not a fan of giving up that fake FRP unless we bring back picks in an eventual PJW, Gafford, Lively deal.

So what you're saying is you'd like to give your fake FRP for a real one?

Aldama can score from the perimeter and mid-range, so he's helpful in regards ro spacing.

May said he's run teams with four small guards and one big so I'm guessing he's going for the opposite in the NBA. Kyrie, Flagg, Aldama, Rez, Gaff/Lively.

Out For Season (Knee) - The Grizzlies said on Sunday (Mar. 15) that Aldama will undergo a season-ending arthroscopic procedure and receive an orthobiologic injection to address discomfort in his right knee, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com. (Updated Mar.15, 2026)

I just went out and dug up some Tarik Biberovic‘ video in Europe. I'd be good with bringing him over here as well.

I’m not sure we necessarily have to send any out out yet in terms of positional crowding. I guess it depends on health projections for Lively. If the projections are bad, could be as simple as:
Gafford/Morez/Cisse (Lively)
PJ/Aldama
Flagg/Naji/Martin
Christie/Klay/de Larrea
Irving/Sasser/Nembhard

Well a "procedure" is not surgery.... but you're right about the medical staff.

I need Lawl on the team, please and thank you.
Lively might be even further behind than we thought.

Aldama is a nice pick up. I like it. But, we need a shooting guard. That said, good job new Mavs brain trust! It’s like night and day to see how the team is run now compared to the recent past.
And now more than ever, please dump that bad PJ contract onto some poor unsuspecting team.

With this coming so quickly after the Brown trade, I wonder if we were actually in on Brown and waiting on that to play out before moving onto this?

Probably coincidental, but it's nice to know we probably could have scraped together a comparable package to land Brown.

I’m trying to speak that since I’m wrong so often. I’m fully expecting the PJ to somewhere deal to happen now since I jinxed myself by saying it wasn’t necessary to move PJ.
I did watch some Aldama highlights within the last few weeks as I was looking at guys that might be Schmitz/Masai type guys.

Following this action it’s amazing how poorly some organizations are run. Lots of them in fact.
Very few good ones. We have a real chance of being one of the good ones.
A lot of them are run by ego or fear. Those are dead end streets.

Santi Aldama missed the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season due to a right knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery in mid-March. However, he is expected to make a full recovery and be ready to participate for the start of the 2026-27 season.

A guard or SF should be the next trade coming in.
It does sort of feel they've had a target but have had to wait for other dominoes.
