Damn the way May is pumping up the players, I think Nembhard might be 6´6 when the season starts. Love his attitude.

That guy is invested in the players. It's going to be a players-first culture.

I'm a little behind on the press conference, but in Masai Ujiri's opening statement:
"Talking to all our players, whether it's Coop..or..um...DLive or Max Christie, or...EVERYBODY! Um..we have Morez that we drafted...um, I see Poulakidis here...It's...Everybody wants to bring something special here. We're all on the same page here - to win." That's like the 3rd time Flagg, Lively and Christie have been the first names out of his mouth. I'm not sure (yet) how calculated he is, but it sure seems like the younger players are more on his mind to me.

May gushed about Max. He's going nowhere anytime soon.

@kyriecenterig
Dusty May speaks on Kyrie during his introductory press conference: “Kyrie [Irving] knows what it takes to win a championship so as a first time NBA coach I’m going to lean on him… he’s one of the greatest point guards to ever play our game, he’s a jazz musician”

May was asked who has influenced him most in his career as a coach. "The players have", he said.

Not Gafford, Naji and Klay. Klay was thrown in there at the very end of one of his comments, but the notable omissions were definitely Gaff and Naji. Which makes sense to all of us on the board.

He is obviously very polished. So much so it was kind of boring.

I'm really interested to see how this works with NBA players. It might be perfect, I suppose. He's just so different from any coach we've had come through here.

He very well may flame out. Heck we might find out the job is too big for Schmitz and Masai best days are behind him.
Although, I am loving the new guys. Even when they say nothing important, there is a kindness there. There also appears to have a deep hunger to win. Everything seemed so cold with the old guys. Just nice to have something different.

Not impactful enough on defense? From my seat, Christie is literally the only legit shooter on the entire roster. Since I believe they need 3-4 more of those, dumping Christie never even enters my mind.

Could be nothing or could be something. |
