2026 NBA draft thread

Sure you will.  It will just take every asset you have, and I'm still skeptical it will be enough.

Let me have this dream for a few more hours.

Honestly, I need to check myself and calibrate properly so I'm not miserable tonight.

I would LOVE Brown Jr, as I think he's the absolute best shot at a star level pairing with Flagg that creates the perfect synergy (other than Peterson, who they can't get).

But at the end of the day, all they have to do is stay at 9 and NOT draft Aday Mara to make me happy. Almost any other possible outcome is acceptable. Just get me through round 1 without Mara being a Maverick, somehow. Bonus points if they can avoid Steinbach, too, but I don't want to get greedy.

You do realize that you just locked us into Aday Mara.  You fool!

...I also have no idea who Aday Mara is.

All I ask is that they stay at 9 and get one of the guards.  In my eyes it will be both BPA and biggest need.  Everything after that is gravy.

2) If he IS there at 8 and the Mavs don't trade up to get him I will lose my mind.

the fact he resembles Jordan poole with poofy hair and a bad back is enough to make me happy if the Mavs pass on him.

But I'll switch up quickly as soon as they draft him dont worry.

In your head, picture Sean Bradley, then add loads of passing/finishing skill.

Then, realize that skill won't matter because by the time he's 25 he's going to move like Sean Bradley.

THAT's who half the world is expecting the Mavs to draft at 9 today...because he went to Michigan and the Mavs just hired Dusty May. I know that's ridiculous. I know that. The smart part of my brain knows Ujiri and Schmitz aren't retarded. But, Schmitz did convince his GM to draft Yang Hansen last year in Portland, and there are officially Vegas odds out there making it look like Mara is the Mavs' guy now.

I just can't...

Agreed, but this Mara crap should have you WELCOMING the idea of Ament.

Man, I get it. There's risk. He plays wild ass basketball and would need refining.

But, he'll pull (and is a legit threat to score) from ANYWHERE, and he is literally the most talented passer in this draft, imho. The passes he can make with his left hand, on the move...beautiful. I think if he lands with a good coach and a great, synergetic star pairing, like Flagg, that he'll be an all star PG. I really, really do.

Nope, I won't be manipulated by stupid media to welcome Ament just because he is the lesser of two evils.  There will be at least one good option on the board.

"Lesser of two evils" applies in the same way it would when comparing having your lunch money stolen once in the 4th grade to your entire family being murdered during a home invasion. Extended family (the home invasion happened over the holidays). You and your little sister are now all that's left, but you'll never see her again because she has been sold into the sex trafficking world.

...that's what drafting Mara tonight would feel like to me.

I hear you, but give me Ament and I'd be just fine, thanks.

The Warriors have talked with the Charlotte Hornets about the possibility of swapping draft picks, with Golden State’s No. 11 pick going to Charlotte for Nos. 14 and 18, contingent on certain players being on the board, league sources told HoopsHype. Charlotte has signaled a willingness to move up in the draft, seemingly to leapfrog Oklahoma City, and executives across the league are wondering which player the Hornets could be targeting.

Goodness gracious, KL.

I would be pretty disgruntled at the Mavs drafting either Mara or Ament (especially at 9, or heaven forbid if they were to flush assets down the dadburned toilet to move up for them), but I would still remain optimistic due to the collective wisdom and knowledge of Masai, Schmitz, and May being quite a bit greater than all of our prior front offices, let alone my own.

I don’t get why you’re so opposed to the always a Wurzberger in Dallas move (with a lower pick), but carry on.

This was so over the top I LOL.  But then I appreciate dark humor.
