AROUND the NBA:
I'm not upset about Sweeney...I didn't want him here compared to everyone else. I want someone completely new with no prior ties to Kidd, Cuban, or even going further back to Donnie!

I see and understand you’re point - but for sure hope that wasn’t the reason we didn’t hire him.

Because considering all circumstances he would have been by far the best option available.

Maybe he is, but the recent actions of Dumont also suggest that money is not an obstacle. Not saying every man can be bought, but Ujiri can basically identify his guy and Dumont will pay whatever it takes to get the job done.

Sam Amick: "Now the Wembanyama effect to your question is I actually think it has a domino effect on the Giannis sweepstakes this summer, where there's only so many guys in the league that can give you a puncher's chance at slowing Wembanyama down. You look at the Thunder, they got a guy in Chet Holmgren who at first glance looks like tailor-made to give him some pushback, and he's obviously had a really hard time in this series. So the impact is even beyond getting a guy like that, it's loading up on bigs. I had one of the executives talk about the Jazz, who I know are certainly not contending at this point, but how they're looking to re-sign Walker Kessler, they did the trade for Jaren Jackson Jr., already got Lauri Markkanen, and that sort of approach. The Thunder adding Hartenstein last year, it's that kind of thing where you're going to need big bodies, but it's not like the Shaq old days when you just needed as much heft as possible. You got to have guys who can play three-four positions and be versatile and keep up with this 7-4 alien."

Must be a blast for Sixers fans to see both McCain and Champaigne really play well in the playoffs.

If OKC wants to win this they can't put Chet back on the court. He's a complete embarrassment.

Kornet more impactful than Holmgren.

As much as I hate the Spurs, I hate floppin’ ass OKC even more. Tonight, I was all SAS fan and now I’m feeling pretty alright with the basketball world.

Happy to see my Chet hate was justified.  What an awful performance.  I know SGA was exhausted, but I wish he were a bit more aggressive in the closing minutes.  Shout out to Wallace.

Also, as much as I loved Jamaal's game, his commentary annoys the heck out me.

I was correct about Chet not being a Robin. I know Jaylen didn't play but even if he did, I'm not sure of him either. Even the last playoffs he came up big at the end but had many stinkers. I was wrong about OKC model with one stud and other complementary players. It won them one title, but even last year if Nico didn't help them they would have lost to the Mavs. SA has 3 very high draft picks all of whom are very good.

For the first time I'm rooting for the Knicks, because if SA wins, you might be looking at them as the champs for the next half decade. That run will come anyway but I want them to wait.

What a disaster for us. Almost no point to have Flagg. We’re not beating Spurs of Okc. Harper honestly looks better than Flagg too. Plus he’s got all this experience now.

I think Jalen Brunson has a fairly decent chance of winning a ring. Crazy how badly the Mavs have killed their own team.

Fun series that lived up to the hype. Two great teams. Won’t take long for all the talking heads to change it up. Going from OKC is unbeatable and will win all the championships to now saying they need to make big changes to get past the Spurs next year.
Things change quickly in the NBA…

You've been posting this a lot lately. So what are all teams to do? Just not play the season?

BTW, Flag >> Harper.  Harper is good but he has a great team, had quite a few mid games even these playoffs and seems iffy if he has to create his own shot consistently in the half court.  Flagg not only did that , but he even went at Wemby a few times in their last meeting and finished.  Either you are having recency bias or just not processing what is really happening on the court.

My friend. Unfortunately there’s no light at the end of the tunnel for us Mavs fans.  The Spurs are  a younger team overall - now they might win a ring this early.  Wembys 1st playoff???  No other words other than complete nightmare for us.

OKC is still fine if they can ever get a healthy playoff run out of Jalen Williams. Long term I don't know if they can afford to keep Dog Chet on the books though.

Can't wait to see Kat and 5-out vs Wemby.

The Jalen Brunson thing was a difficult one from the start. Donnie started it off by giving a player option on the final year as a favor to his bud Rick.  Next Jalen does very well and contributes heavily to the Mavs going to a WCF, but totally stunk there. It was not sure at that point if he and Luka would work with both of them being ball dominate guys who were not great defensively. So you have two starters who are poor defensively.

If the Mavs dealt Jalen then, they would have got something but it would not have been what he would get now, because he was not a superstar here.

I came the day the trade was made and said it was a disaster losing Jalen for nothing and I would have gladly given him 5 years for 125 because it would still be a bargain when scrubs like Harrison Barnes and Tobias Harris regularly get huge contracts.  However, I don't know if we would have got anything more than at best some mid first + some fillers for the Jalen Brunson who was here.
