Trade & FA 2025-26: Free Agency Starts 5pm CST/6pm EST
(02-05-2026, 02:26 PM)Chicagojk Wrote: what a crazy pick protection.   They get the 26 pacers pick protected 1-4 and 10-30?  What the heck???

5 team have between 12 and 13 wins.  Pacers are one of them.  Crazy that they may not get that pick if it falls to 5.    Crazy.

Does that mean the Gafford market is done for now?

We’ll know in 30-45 minutes.

With the top 4 protection, I don't think it's a big deal to trade that pick. Still, a great haul for the Clippers

I get that Zubac was a DPOY candidate last season but this is highway robbery. Very risky move by Indiana.

The real winners of this deal: OKC

The Clippers are still not tanking. The 10-30 protection tells me the Pacers will try to win now, cause otherwise they would not need the #10-30 protection.

But the crazy part is that they made it #10. If anything it should be #9.

Kings
Pelicans
Nets
Wizards
Jazz
Mavs
Grizzlies
Bucks
Pacers (9th)

Do they really think they can catch up 10 games to one of Blazers, Hornets or Bulls. They must think the Bulls are now tanking. That´s their only small chance to get to #10 and then either move up by winning or keeping the 2026 pick as #10.

A team that has been linked to Ja Morant reportedly wants Memphis to attach picks to Morant to get a deal done, per @BannedMacMahon

I wonder what those picks are?  Surely not Memphis first rounders.

And could I talk myself into a Morant reclamation project?  He's hurt.  Could that elbow injury be parlayed into a season ending injury?  Could Kyrie be a positive influence to help rebuild his value and then trade him next TDL or the following offseason?  Klay+Martin+Gafford works for salary matching.  Memphis owns an extra 2030 FRP via Orlando.  Ja is 26 which is a little old to write off his childish behavior and think he'll get it.

The 10-30 protection is for Clippers, so they don't get a trashy pick. They put more value on unprotected 2031 first in this case

To me this says Indy has basically decided that the top tier of this draft is picks 1-4, and below that it's not enough of a sure thing to have to cling to. I think they will still work at landing as the top lottery seed.

I don’t see how they can make up 10 wins this late in the season, maybe Rick will tank harder?

The Charlotte Hornets are trading Tyus Jones to the Dallas Mavericks for Malaki Branham, sources tell ESPN. Mavericks have had interest in Jones this season and get him today. Hornets open up a $7 million trade exception.

that is mighty risky imo for Indy.   Although, if Haliburton can make a full recovery, Indy could be one of the top teams in the East again.   That is a good looking roster.    They have like a 50% chance of getting  a top 4 pick.  I think it will be tough to keep that percentage that high as the season goes on.

I’m lower on Mathurin than some of you, don’t think he helps us much, but he could be good for the Clippers.

I mean we had to get a guard at some point, not the deal I wanted to be making with Charlotte though.

Mavs add $2M in payroll with this deal.

Tyus Jones, sources say, was who Dallas actually targeted above D'Angelo Russell this summer, before Jones found a richer deal with Orlando than the Mavericks could afford.
