40% three point shooter compared to our 21% three point shooter. I'm not giving up a first for Rollins, but he's a much more desirable player than B Will.

Kidd doesn't think so. And Williams is shooting 21% from the 3-point line. That's one reason why he can't stay on the floor.

What exactly are you arguing about? If you would rather have the Lakers 2029 pick - likely the bottom half of a draft more than 2 years away - rather than a young PG who shoots well from the perimeter, be my guest. I don't think it makes sense, but it's just an opinion on a message board.

I'm old enough to remember watching the 1991-92 Mavs. On any given night I swore that Mike Iuzzolino and Donald Hodge were the second coming of Stockton and Malone because of "the stats, maaaan!!!"  Eventually, I learned that, on bad teams, somebody's gotta get the stats. Even the average ones who get over-inflated averages.

That's Rollins.

You didn´t even know who Rollins was six months ago and now we are giving up 1st round picks for him. As you say opinions.

I mean he is shooting 40% from 3 (on decent volume), has a good assist to turnover ratio, is a plus defender and is 23.  The sample is still small, but this is not really the profile of somebody just chucking in garbage minutes.

I know you enjoy playing contrarian to me, but let's keep the Rollins' point I was making in context. Yes, players can put up solid numbers, but that doesn't mean they are necessarily a foundational piece of a franchise. The context was that numbers, in a vacuum, don't make someone who they truly are.

To take that a step forward, if Luka only returned ONE 1st, I'm daaaaaamn sure going to make sure it's not moved for a guy who has bounced around the league appearing to be a jag prior to the first half of the season.

I play contrarian to everyone.  I agree that numbers in a vacuum don't tell the whole story, especially when you are just looking at counting stats (which is what I think was originally posted).  But my point was that taking a deeper dive on this kid, he looks like he may be the real deal.  He is apparently an elite point of attack defender, a quality PG and so far a good shooter.  He already showed signes of being a good backup PG last season, and he is taking it to another level this season.  It has been a small sample so far, but this is exactly the kind of player Mavs should be targeting.  He has been one of the few good things going for the Bucks and I can't imagine they have any interest in trading him, so it probably doesn't matter anyways.

In regards to my original argument, I'd like to add that my feelings about a 1st round pick are tied to the Lakers plus Doncic. What I mean is that if we were talking about the Washington Wizards 2029 1st round pick, I'm not sure I would have the same opionion.

Lebron will be gone, and the Lakers FO is going to be busy filling out Doncic's Lakers (still a fairly young Doncic) with the appropriate teammates just as our Mavs did. I have a hard time imagining the pick as anything but a low 1st round pick.

I get Roy Tarpley's opinion that it's just hard to give up out 1st round picks when we've been so busy getting rid of them. But I believe the actual chances of a low 1st vs Rollins ( and what he brings and what the Mavs need) is weighted towards Rollins.

He deserves it. He should have made it last year with the Clippers. He's averaging 24 ppg for the Heat. Now KAT is a different story... Brandon Ingram deserved it more than KAT.

31 pts in the 2nd half against the Hornets. Is this some weird bird loyalty thing between the Hawks and Pelicans?

They are half a game from the bottom against nine teams that are literally sabotaging their own games to lose.

How is their coach not fired? Give it to some young 30 year old assistant coach or video coordinator. If this is the best James Borrego can get out of these players, what´s the point of keeping him?

Lakers blowing out the nets. Jazz getting a win. Bigger news is Orlando is down by around 30 to OKC. Sneaky team to make a trade?

Memphis wins their second straight.  Ty Jerome telling everyone to jump on his back.  I don't expect them to continue winning but they do have a deep roster with young, hungry guys.   We will see how hard they are willing to fight.

Bucks win their second straight as well as Buck nation groans.

Spurs beat OKC (minus Shai) again

Boston with a very impressive win on a back to back in Houston.  Ime gets ejected.

Knicks seem to be righting the ship a little.

Cavs whip the Clippers.

Maaaaan, I hate what the league has become. It's impossible to watch a game for 30 seconds without seeing a gambling ad. It sucks you in.

Anyway, I finally tried one of the daily sports (I won't give them more ad space), primarily because it got me to watch players and teams I otherwise wouldn't.

So I picked some players one night and banked. But the next night I selected players on the Wizards. And...BANG!!! I chose wisely??? I mean Bub Carrington needed 12.5 points and he got 12 by the first two minutes of the second half. And THEN, the coach pulls Bub, Kysean and Saar, and doesn't play them basically the entire second half after they looked great.

I get not playing old vets in an effort to grow and tank, but sitting ALL of your up and coming players? It was gross.

Oh, but it didn't even work as the Wiz won.

Houston has a bright future, but man they have had some struggle lately.   Lost back to back at home.   While they are set up for a nice run, there is no guarantee you have a 5-8 year run.   How much longer does KD have as an all star?   I was surprised they did not add a guard at the deadline. Sheppard is a nice young developing player, but I don't think he will be ready for the size of the role they will need for the playoffs this year.   With Adams out for the year, that is a massive blow.  As much as a role player can be.

That coach too.  I think he is the guy who will wear out his welcome.   They bought in and had success but I think in time he is one of those guys players will get tired of sooner or later.
