So do we still think they are going to look for the young co-star or is Cuban back with the slogan "short term gain for long term pain".
Hey guys you already remember when Presti tanked SGA for B2B seasons? Yeah me neither. Coop + Kon Knueppel at SG + Lively + the Mavs 2026 draft pick (perhaps, a PG?) should be a great core... if y'all can pry Kon away from the Hornets. Kon is a high IQ player, good handles, good shooting, can make plays, good off-ball movement, holds his own on defense, and is besties with Coop... I think he's literally the perfect young co-star for the Mavs to go after.

Charlotte has such bad luck and bad history, that Kon is very likely the next giant poster on the sides of downtown Charlotte buildings. They desparately want a player to love. I'm pretty sure, he's the guy.

I believe he's leading all rookies in scoring, averaging 18 points per game. He has a chance, as does Coop, to win ROY as well as he's playing.

But despite him averaging a couple more points a game than Flagg - they aren't close in terms of moving the needle for a team. I have zero clue how these "rookie rankings" have him above Flagg at this point. Kon is a flame thrower - who is hitting above 40% on 3s right now Flagg, if he could be just a slightly below average threat from 3 - his scoring numbers would explode.

Thats exactly what i was factoring in while i was shedding Luka tears again. I'm still living in this alternate universe that we didnt trade Luka, we dont over work Kyrie and blow his ACL. We trade Maxi + for something at the deadline. Lively comes back healthy at the end of the season. We take OKC to game 7. Thats about where my dream stops. I cant handle the rest.

I have a feeling if AD stays healthy that this team will be competitive and win games. We have been competitive all season without him. Look at all the clutch games we've been in. With that said i fear the trading AD noise will go away and it may turn to adding at the deadline. Make a trade to balance this roster, get Kyrie healthy and they can make a run. The big problem with this is OKC. I'm afraid the best we could do is the 8th seed. So sure, lets go ahead and face the 1 seed Thunder who will probably break the all time win record.

What about trading for Franz Wagner? He's looking great this year.

Why in the name of the lord would the magic even think about letting Franz go?

Apparently there is some in-fighting going on in ORL between Franz and Paolo over who's team it actually is. Magic are clearly better off with Franz, but the front office appears to like Paolo more. I can see them making a choice between the two.

Is Kon worth AD + the Lakers pick (plus salary balast)? Or "insert young player here".* *Dylan Harper, VJ Edgecombe (plus taking on George's contract), etc. Don't FGump me over details. I'm simply saying what if AD isn't the best player exchanged in a trade and Dallas instead is the team sending out the extra.

But I'm tired of the Mavs coming out on the short end of the stick on trades. AD is a top talent, but injury prone. I don't know if it's part of the Kawhi Diva act but taking time off "recovering from injuries" gets old. Even if the injuries are "real" it's getting old. We saw, in the last few games, that AD can play, AND purposely involve Cooper Flagg. So if they can play together, without injury, and AD is willing to mentor Cooper...I say keep him. I think AD will be injured. That's why I'm on the trade AD wagon. But I'm not on the get fleeced by trading AD AND offering more wagon. There are few players "worth more". Don't FGump me over the details...

It would have to be a no-brainer deal to me. He's above CF because he's a better shooter to this point, and he leads all rookies in scoring. Will that continue? Who knows. Both have had fantastic rookie seasons to this point.

Its hard to see a scenario where a team will be interested in trading a great young player with untold upside for a great old payer with injury issues. Don't think a pick or two will make a difference. That team would have to be in desperate win now mode.

I know there's a sentiment, that I share, to trade AD for the best deal before he gets injured again.
That said, I'm kind of liking the vibe these last few games. Given the effectiveness of Nembhard, it's really let CF and AD play to their strengths and they seem to complement each other pretty well. I'm interested in getting Kyrie back in January and see how it all feels then.

On yesterdays bill simmons podcast he starts with an nba six pack. His number 3 point is the mavs should not move AD at a discount and should keep him as him and Flagg look interesting. |
