I watched both Andrew Nembhard and Ryan Nembhard play for Gonzga. Both can play. No surprise what Ryan is doing.

Having a guard who can run an offense and set people up for good looks makes things so much easier. I won’t expect this shooting often but 9 assists and 0 turnovers so far. He did the same thing in college.

This would be a really good win...let's hope the Mavs can hang-on here the last 2 minutes.

Night of upsets. Wizards win, Mavs win, Jazz might win too. Adam Silver is smiling right now

Mavs need at least one more basket here.

Wow...great game tonight.

nice win. maybe the play is to just keep AD and go on a run with Kyrie back.

I would hate to be the guy who has the awkward conversation with Kyrie about him coming off the bench next year

When the Mavs get Kyrie back...and assuming everyone else is healthy...maybe they can go on a run. At least...at least...into the play-in bracket. After the shitty start to the season maybe they can become a factor.

Nembhard was so good tonight that I am already fretting how the Mavs will screw up his free agency in a few years.

Well last year we couldn’t convert B-Will until the last game of the season due salary restrictions against the 2nd apron. So as long as we have space for a minimum contract and a roster slot to move him into (Exum getting cut??) we have control once he exceeds the 2-way threshold for games played. There is probably no rush to do so because Exum could be used as salary ballast in a trade, and if Dallas does indeed make a trade you wouldn’t want it to be complicated by having less apron space. My point is that Nembhard is playing every game on the schedule going forward, injuries not with-standing

I think he's a key piece going forward. I think he's a keeper. He plays very smart and within himself. He's efficient and doesn't turn the ball over. I would like to see him get big minutes all year and see what we have in him. I think he's earned a better look.

Looks like the tank is off. AD and Coop have nice chemistry.

AD at the 5, Flagg at the 4, a real PG looks much more functional.

Stein says they can covert Nembhard to a standard NBA contract in January.

Cooper is averaging 20 points over his last 11 games.
Nembhard got his 28 points on 14 shots without taking a single FT. He got 10 assists without committing a single turnover.

I was too dismissive about Nembhard. Early on, from what I was seeing, I didn't think he could get (and make) enough shots to keep the defense honest. But he's starting to find the places where he can get shots and knock them down. If he truly has that figured out, he can be the fill-in PG the Mavs were hoping he would be. Impressive outing.
The question I have is whether it was all him, or if DEN defenders were super-sucky. Has he reached another level, or is this a one-off? We'll have to see how it goes. Good tests this week ahead in MIA, OKC, HOU. |
