Finally! The firing was long overdue. But this is just one step in the journey to becoming an NBA Champion. There are still more firings, trades, and changes to the Master Plan to be made.
I am available should the Mavs be interested in an old driveway point guard with a background in management and technical services. No...I've never been a shoe salesman.

I'm listening to Stein talk to the DLLS guys right now. He's strongly hinting that Cuban and Welts had a lot to do with this firing.

Alignment with the coach. That's when you see a transaction like this (the Luka trade) take place." If you guys don't think Kidd signed off on it, I've got a bridge to sell you. Kidd was just a liiiiiiiitle smarter than Harrison/Dumont. He knew the backlash would be unparalleled, and sidestepped it all masterfully. From afar, team morale felt off to start of the season and the record out of the gate didn't help things out as fans quickly shifted back to "Fire Nico" after the brief high of lucking into Cooper Flagg. Going from competing for a championship to the chaos of last season and now seemingly a bottom feeder is going to lead to poor morale and firing the guy that architected that, save for the injuries, probably isn't going to make things worse. That's not to say that things can't get worse, but Nico wasn't going to turn this around. Another GM might be able to or at least start the process (pun intended). Agree that its the correct decision to fire him. I just predict that the morale of the players will get a lot worse from now. This just sets further cementation in the doubt of this roster construction and will disturb the morale and chemistry. I see nothing positive about it. ANd yet, there is nothing better to do than to fire Nico. If the player performance has been bad, i think it will get a lot worse. There was still some hope around that Nico knew what he was doing. But no, not after this. And it will end in massive trade out of the current roster by the season end.

This team has no windows, trade Doncic close every windows in the city hahahahah Tank for a top pick and rebuild around Flagg, Max, Lively & PJ. Simple.

It means this roster cant move on in its current state as the guy that believed in this roster is fired. But on the long run its the right thing. Doncic really lifted the franchise from the moment of him being drafted. The team was a mess at that time. This team immediately improved and became contender. And just as fast, it all fell very quickly after his trade. Even faster than one would have predicted. Conclusion is you dont trade Luka. There is no good way out of it.

Obviously, these tired topics have had new life breathed into them today, so we're all facing the same direction at the moment.
However, this celebration will be expected to turn into "now what" pretty quickly (pacing of that transition to be determined by the group trends). I can already tell that a couple of you guys aren't going to be able to move on, even now, and when popular opinion forces us to ban you, I want you to remember that you did it to yourselves.
What is the best package the Mavs can potentially get for AD? I think he's the most likely to be moved along with Klay.

Would anyone do a trade where AD and Ja are the featured players? Are we better off taking bad contracts and getting draft picks? The AD for Ja trade above gives us KCP and two first round picks also. Obviously, we would have to flip Kyrie for another player and picks if we traded for Ja since they are both small guards. I have reservations about Ja, but he's only 26 and an elite player and athlete.

I am really not interested in Ja. Head case and lack of shooting. I am worried there is no reasonable trade for AD in the middle of the season. I am curious to see if Kidd coaches differently with Nico gone.

I think you miss the most interesting context of Stein's tweet: @TheSteinLine As for what Nico Harrison's dismissal means for Anthony Davis' future in Dallas: Sources tell @TheSteinLine and @DLLS_Sports that Davis' agent Rich Paul has established a strong relationship with Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont since February's trade. They are in regular contact. The way Stein avoids saying whether Dallas wants to keep AD or if AD wants to stay in Dallas is the newsiest part. The agent having a good working relationship with the owner could mean a lot of things. And not all of them involve AD staying past the trade deadline.

I agree on the head case part which is the main concern for me, but the Mavs have had good luck in the past helping players become better 3 point shooters. Plus he makes all our players better instantly like Luka did. Too many guys can't score now without Luka being hounded. |
