Why was he even at the airport? The team has been at home.
Haha true, didn´t even think about that. Maybe that was the problem. He tried to catch a team flight and that raised red flags.

Davis played the first four games so it’s long overdue that he misses a few games. It would be better to sit him against Indy but they are probably already in survival mode where every game matters for Harrison to keep his job.

Note that Lively is now listed as having a right knee sprain. Not a bruise. Not good.
Are they tanking already? Dwight Powell starting C surely was not on my bingo card for the season.

Interesting DSJ is not on the Legends roster. There was some reporting that his rights were owned by another team and Dallas was trying to get his rights. Is this the case or has either DSJ or Dallas decided to look elsewhere?

They couldn't sign him to the 15-man roster even if they wanted to.

Anthony Davis: probable (bilateral Achilles tendinopathy)
Tendinopathy
Tendinopathy is a condition characterized by chronic pain and inflammation in a tendon, which is a fibrous cord that connects muscle to bone.
Causes: - Overuse or repetitive motions
- Sudden increase in activity level
- Improper form or technique
- Age
- Certain medical conditions (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis)
Result of a summer of inactivity (and weight gain) followed by NBA-level exertion without ramping up?
TBH, I'm not convinced AD brings any higher commitment to staying healthy that Luka did. If that's the case, then the trade was all about Nico asserting his authority as GM. Makes me even more ready to see him off.

AD's summer was abnormal because of his crazy eye surgery, which he discussed in great detail during training camp. Now, I'm no doctor, so I don't fully understand how that situation prevented him from doing enough of his normal summer routine, but apparently it did, and since he has never once started a season out of shape to my knowledge, I'm content to trust his word on it.
The juxtaposition of this happening right after Luka is shockingly shipped out of town and his conditioning being pointed to as part of the reason for that is unfortunate, I acknowledge that. But, gun to my head, I'd still trust Davis to be more consistently in shape for the rest of his time here than I would Luka. Just saying. And, for this current situation, I think in a week or two we'll forget it ever happened. With Luka, he could look good for two weeks, miss a week and somehow look and move like a completely different person after a very short time off.

I don't understand the sentiment on this board that AD isn't a hard worker. Yes, he's spent a lot of time on the sidelines, but that's because he's been prone to injury. I don't recall any of his prior teams complaining about his effort. I wasn't happy about the trade when it happened, and I'm still not, but it's in the past and piling on AD isn't going to change it.

He showed up to camp significantly overweight compared to his playing weight in previous years.
You can explain it away however you want. If he couldn't work out due to an eye injury, he could have eaten less calories. You can't blame fans for making fun of AD for showing up overweight when the entire rationale for trading Luka was his weight. The jokes write themselves.
I personally don't have anything against AD. I think we have much bigger problems. If the team was good, people wouldn't be taking shots at him.

He's averaged 25/12 in 36 mpg and hasn't missed a game. Yes, he looks a bit slower to start the season but that will work itself out. Just like everyone else, I'm waiting for the shoe to drop and him to miss an extended period, but he's played pretty well given his shortened offseason.

As long as the team sucks, everyone is going to get criticized. AD, Nico, Kidd, Klay, Flagg, take your pick

Of the top 97 players this season in MPG, the only player that currently runs less per game than Davis (21st in minutes) is James Harden (68th in minutes).
Last year in the Top 75 only players that ran the same amount as AD were Harden and Brook Lopez. Nobody ran less. The year before the only players in the top 60 that ran less were Harden and Embiid. And Harden always plays 80+ games pacing himself. So the more fair comparison for AD is Embiid, who has never reached the conference finals as a #1 option. Something Fat Luka has done twice before even entering his prime.
Our most active guys btw are Washington, Flagg, Lively, Christie and Marshall.

We have now beaten two of the five worst teams in the league. AD predictably is hurt, which might not even hurt the team much if Lively/Gafford are healthy, but it is time to f*** of Nico IMMEDIATELY. His f***** up vision is dead.
It´s time to get a new NBA proven GM to fix this mess.
1. FIRE the whole medical staff. They are a mess.
2. Carefully guide AD to the trade deadline and trade him for a projected lottery pick this year and expiring contracts. Not even sure how to pick that low-hanging fruit.
3. Trade Klay and Russell to the Rockets for FVV´s player option + two 2nd round picks.
4. Full focus on the Flagg/Washington/Lively core.
5. TANK. That´s where they´ll end up anyway, even trying to win this year.
This is literally the only way forward.
If they keep this team as it stands wit the people in charge, they´ll have to win the lottery again. Otherwise given the remaining assets and the level of skills shown by the organization, Flagg´s Mavs career will be dead already.
EDIT: Some of these AD discord trade value discussions are mental. If somebody offered Duren, Ivey and Thompson for AD, 29 GMs would give up their left hand to do that deal. Even the GMs that are left-handed. Only Nico would not.

It will be interesting to see the lineups without AD.
I would like to see us get one of our centers back quickly, but the addition of Williams, and small boosts from people like Martin, Christie, and Powell make the team look a little faster. If Christie got more of Klay's minutes, Williams stuck as the first PG off the bench (and sometimes played with Dlo), and Lively was at center, this would feel more like everyone's natural position with PJ and Coop on the wings. Marshall could sub in for either wing with Martin getting a few minutes.
That feels like a competitive team without AD

We've joked before that the "trade" would actually be known as the Max Christie trade when it's all said and done. Good to see him playing really good basketball on both ends.
This season:
12.3 PPG
1.3 RPG
1.3 APG
55.2% FG
56.5% 3PT (5.8 3PA)
100% FT

He is a good player. At least a solid rotation piece. Maybe more. He won't shoot that well all year and he had 2 poor turnovers last night, but I think he has been a nice part so far this year. The rebound #'s are a little dissapointing. In my view, he is a combo with another two who can cover the shooting guard position. I don't think we have that other guard yet though.
Both him and Coop have not missed a free throw yet too.

Through 5 games, Mavs are a +36 with D'Angelo Russell on the court and a -74 with him off. He's shot the ball poorly (43.5 TS%) but 27 assists compared to 9 turnovers.
If nothing else, this gives me some hope for what this team can be with Kyrie in the mix. When healthy, I believe the Guards on this team (Kyrie/DLO/Exum/BWill) are good enough to compliment what is supposed to be a dominate frontcourt.
