BREAKING: Nine-time NBA All-Star Damian Lillard is finalizing a three-year, $42 million contract to return to the Portland Trail Blazers, sources tell ESPN. Deal is expected to include a player option in 2027-28 and a no-trade clause. A storybook reunion home for the 35-year-
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

I don't really get it. I get he is a franchise icon and good for him going home again. Not sure it is the same though. He can certainly outperform that contract, but their backcourt for the next three years is a 37 year old Jrue and a 35 year old dame coming off achilles injury. Portland really needs Scoot to continue to develop if they ever have a chance to be a serious playoff contender. Seems like progress stoppers to me. I will need to think more about it. Initial thought is both parties probably should have looked elsewhere. I get it going back home though.

So Bucks>.......

Gave away Jrue

Watched him go to to their primary east competition and win a ring.

Watched him go back to Portland.

Watched Dame go back to Portland.

Still have to pay Dame.

Still owe the 2028-2030 FRP and swaps.

Still have Kuzma for 2 years!

It was widely speculated that he was having talks with Jason Tatum who was trying to recruit him to Boston as well as them both recovering from Achilles tears. I guess he felt he can end his career at home. I don't see him playing beyond that contract. I can see that with his family being there.

I only see this as Portland doing their legend a solid. He will sell tickets and make fans happy, he will be a vet presence.

I don't get it for Portland, 3 years with a player option for last year? They might be paying him 28M for essentially one year, if he decided to opt out.

Both are 35, they were born few weeks apart, but yeah, weird deal
