Trade & FA 2025-26: Free Agency Starts 5pm CST/6pm EST
@KevinGraySports

A league source I talked to this evening expressed similar sentiments believing that West teams are adding size in reaction to the Mavericks size and front court depth and are gearing up for match ups against the Mavs and not OKC #MFFL

D-Lo is basically a 1 year rental, he can't be a bad decision or a locker room cancer because he has no leverage here.

If you trade for street clothes then you have to accept his friends. It's useless root now.

Our better option is to be really bad at the start of the season, Fire Harrison and start a new Mavs era with a GM who build a team around Flagg&our young core trading street clothes&Irving.

Sure.

I can immagine teams scared to face a no PO squad.

Looking at a lot of the good teams it is really shocking how deep some of these teams are. I think the days of getting three stars and filling in with minimum guys are way gone. You need a really deep team to survive the regular season. The playoffs may be different, but teams are really putting a lot of emphasis on going 10 plus deep.

I agree. Another takeaway for me is the emphasis on size. Are we seeing some kind of shift in the NBA? Was Dallas a trend setter?  Smile

Agree.

We are top as depth roster, our first 10 guys are for real.

Immagine add a true leader to this squad. It's a ring.

"Ignore" is a promising replacement.

Disagree with both those takes in general.  In fact, the Mavs have had that happen with another point guard.

Its looking like the Gafford/Lively pairing started the trend. OKC knew they had to get bigger and brought in Hartenstein.

Now we add AD to that, and teams are loading up.

But what is Houston going to do with Sengun, Adams, and Capela ??

Under Carlisle... Kidd is a zombie, no one can argue with him.

Worst case scenario is Christian Wood. Don't worry.

I'm far from worried.

They're going to run out some 2-Big lineups also. Having the ability to do so is just as important as having the ability to go small. A deep, versatile roster is important to have when it comes to all the different playoff matchups.

I agree.   I am a big fan of having a lot of creators (with good size too), but in addition I have liked having two bigs (not dinosaur bigs) who can protect the rim and get easy baskets.   I think more teams are thinking this way.    You have to have the creators though to make it run smoothly.

Styles makes fights.  With Luka and now without, I want the ability to force the other team to match your lineups and not vice versa.

The Trail Blazers were tired of Deandre Ayton behavior which led to his buyout, per @jwquick

“Late to team flights and practices, skipping rehab appointments, slamming chairs when taken out of games, and tantrums in the locker room when sidelined for poor effort.”

The Bucks have emerged as a serious candidate in the Deandre Ayton sweepstakes.

Milwaukee still has the $14.1M non-tax MLE to spend after inking team-friendly deals with Gary Trent Jr., Kevin Porter Jr., and Taurean Prince. The Bucks could be preparing to make another splash…

Even if the Bucks make a strong push for Deandre Ayton, the Lakers should still be regarded as the favorites to land his signature. But if it matters to Ayton, Milwaukee can now offer more cash than LA.

Rob Pelinka’s first call when free agency opened was to Jake LaRavia, per @DanWoikeSports

“According to league sources, LaRavia was the Lakers’ first call when free agency officially opened at 3 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday. In his conversation with Rob Pelinka and Lakers coach JJ Redick, LaRavia and his team were impressed with the ways Pelinka sold the strengths of the Lakers’ brand and Redick’s detailed vision for how he’d like to use the young wing.”

Ya, but not with a pair from the 3 C's.  JSJ is about as big as you're going to get.  Ditto for Eason.

Sacramento remains interested in signing Russell Westbrook, league sources say, but New York is no longer regarded as a viable destination for the nine-time NBA All-Star.

Al Horford, furthermore, remains a leading target for Golden State as stated yesterday below.
