I know Myles is a beast defensively and that showed in the finals, but he was so bad offensively and on the boards, paying him anywhere near $30M seems bananas.

It kind of comes down to whether or not you are all in on the kind of floor spacing he provides, and whether or not you feel like it’s plausible to replace it. Bigs who can shoot aren’t as rare as they used to be, but they don’t exactly grow on trees nowadays, either.

That’s pretty close to Porziņģis money, for reference. Personally, I don’t think I would want to pay either one of them that much.

Give me Myles of KP just because of health.  Turner had some amazing defensive flashes in the finals, but I think you could make an argument that Obie Toppin was Indy's best big because Myles was so ridiculously bad on the offensive end.  And while it's a little silly to pick on the Finals winner, OKC could have used Chet on the perimeter more as Turner could not stay in front him.  Maybe the Thunder are a horrible matchup for him, but:

Myles Turner's NBA Finals stats include averages of 10.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. He has a 50.3% true shooting percentage, a 37.7% field goal percentage, and a 21.4% three-point percentage

Not sure how credible this is, but it would definitely stir things up:

Yeah, but...if BOS wants out from under that new Brown deal ALREADY??? I don't know, but I'd have to think "buyer beware" at that point.

Brown is a great #2, but maybe he didn't take the leap that Boston expected with that contract.  His handle is still suspect and he's a little inconsistent, the latter I'd be more forgiving of as he has to be the Robin to Tatum's Batman.  To your point, that makes it all the stranger as he'd get a full season of being Batman in Boston.  You wouldn't think new ownership would penny pinch out the gate either, but maybe Tatum's injury has them thinking about retooling.

Does the Boston fire sale strike anyone else as Florida Marlins-esque?

Even Cuban didn't go that crazy after the '11 championship.

You guys are debating Turner's value to IND when he's being paid somewhere in the vicinity of 30M. But I'm not buying he's landing that huge a deal with IND (and likely with anyone else either, since no one has that kind of money except BKN) is a real likelihood.

What's his value to them at 20-22M, say? Now is he worth re-signing?

Maybe they want to tank a little since Tatum misses next season.  We know they wanted to reduce salary so getting off of KP and Jrue makes a lot of sense.  Brown might be a little surprising, but if you look to the future, with KP gone and Horford REALLY aging out, Bam is more of need next to Tatum than Brown.  He's also younger and less  expensive.  From Miami's perspective, Brown's probably the better focal point of a team than Bam.  I like the idea of this trade for all parties involved which is odd.

With Gafford's recent deal, is that something Myles would take?

Celtics insider Steve Bulpett: Per sources, Celtics trying to move into the lottery. Illinois guard Kasparas Jakucionis said to be a target. Plus: Jrue Holiday reportedly very unhappy being dealt to Trail Blazers. Another trade possible.

According to one source close to the situation, Holiday is “pissed” he’s going to Portland.

“Now, if he winds up staying there, I’m sure he’ll be the professional he’s always been and make a positive contribution,” said the source. “But he’s not happy with this deal. I’ll be surprised if Portland doesn’t move him on if they can, because right now he does not want to go there.

You can't take what you aren't offered. I fail to see Turner having value at 30M, and neither IND nor anyone else offering that sort of deal.

Gafford is now essentially on a 4 yr, 68M deal.
Turner getting a deal starting in the 20-22M range would be in the 4 yr, 89-99M range which is 20-30M  more than Gafford.
But a deal starting at 30M would be 4 yr, 134M or so. Just don't see it. There's only so much money to allocate.

This is no longer the era of "everyone gets a max if they are a solid starter" and now everyone has to fit into the overall salary structure of what a team can afford to pay in total.

DLO would erase any good will the organization has earned since January.

Surely D lo is insurance if others get hurt or struggle. I hope he is not a starter.

Hopefully Brogdon.
I do not like DLo's game.

Brogden has played more than 40 games once in the past 4 seasons. He's played more than 70 once, and that was his rookie season.  Sure, all things equal I'd take Brogdon over Russell, because I think Brogdon is better defensively, but offensively they're very similar, and there's a pretty big gap in availability.

I’m surprised. DLo is not a great player, but at the TPMLE, the value is insane. Especially since we’re in need of a guard badly and he is still pretty good at that.

I’d prefer CP3. But I like either of them over Brogdon who just can never stay healthy.

I don't like D-Lo but he has talent and he is a great offensive player.

Brogdon-ACL Irving-Street Clothes is a Nightmare trio. But for the Mavs fans. OMG.
