The piece: Kevin Durant

It is the only way imo. Have you looked at their roster? Some nice pieces but man is it pretty low on talent. Having KD get hurt and the albatross of Beal's contract didn't help, but I see no way they turn this current iditeration into a contender. Sooner or later they will need to make the really tough choice that they are better off re-setting.
You aren't wrong about their outlook, but I don't think you trade Booker until he asks to be traded.

In my logic, they need to move Beal first.

For what?
Another bad, underperforming contract? Or maybe try to attach something of value, in order to get back a somewhat less bad contract?
If they could just tear up his contract and release him today, I think they’d be overjoyed.
It just sucks to overpay a “star” player. Totally ties your hands.
I think they hold onto him until the contract is over, and try to get some usable play out of him in the meantime. Similar to Deandre Ayton.

They would love to. The issue is he has a no trade clause that he has been very willing to stay in PHX. He also has a bad contract and not many teams will take that on without getting something back.

Of course they do.
Only issue is Beal has to agree to be moved and he has said repeatedly he does not want to be traded.
In that sense, PHX is stuck

Well, of course you don't trade Dame for another "bad, underperforming contract".
Nice is in DAL, not MIL.

I thought that about Wall in 2021/22. Almost exact contract given NBA inflation.

The Toronto Raptors are expected to show interest in Malik Monk if they fail to land Kevin Durant, per @krispursiainen
“If a trade with the Phoenix Suns for Kevin Durant doesn't end up happening, league sources tell ClutchPoints they have other targets in mind. The Raptors have demonstrated interest in acquiring Kings guard Malik Monk in a potential trade, with that interest dating back at least to February's trade deadline.”

That *almost* distinction is glossing over the Grand Canyon level distinction of his NTC.
Beal isn’t just untradeable because of his NTC, but also the team getting Beal now has to deal with his NTC, which as we’ve seen, is impossible to deal with.
No one is going to want to trade for literally an immovable contract taking up
35% of your space. On top of Beal not wanting to move anyways.

John Wall's contract didn't have a no-trade clause though. Reports around last TDL indicated the only teams showing interest were Atlanta and Washington. The Suns don't have much to sweeten the pot on trying to dump him and he can say no to being dumped if he doesn't like the destination. Two more years of Beal seems likely.

Massai has a title, but man the last few years have been rough. They have had some good individual talent, but I have no idea what they are trying to build. Seems like they are just collecting guys around 20 million plus per year and hope it works out. I just don't see it. I know they were able to do this before and then get a star and won a championship, but the foundation was much stronger with the previous team. if it is between this and starting over, I would prefer just starting over.

By my estimation, Beal was never a star. He just got paid like one. He didn't even warrant having a no-trade clause in his contract. His agent should be in the Hall of Fame.

I agree. He has been really bad. First letting FVV walk for nothing. Waited way too long to move OG. Ditto on Pascal.

Since we re speaking of John Wall, Beal was the beneficiary of not being John Wall. Sprinkle in a little being the best player on the team an often dysfunctional franchise and that's the recipe for that type of contract.

Suns insider Gambo updates. He has been good on Suns stuff, but I have to imagine he is being played by the Suns. No way Toronto is offering that right? I may have doubts the rockets are the best offer. I am not sure I get the Minny offer. Gobert has his faults and I could see KD being an upgrade, but their defense falls off a cliff when Naz is the center. Not sure how Gobert really changes PHX upside either. Maybe makes them better. Maybe not.
***************
Gambo updates
He said the Rockets are offering Jalen Green and Jabari Smith. Said Phoenix has zero interest in Green. He still believes Minnesota’s package headlined by Gobert is the best. He said Toronto is willing to trade Quickley, Barrett, Poetl and the 9th pick but he said those are bad contracts to have and said he’d call the Suns losers if they made that trade with Toronto.
