Congrats to Brandon Williams or earning a pro contract. Long road. Will be 26 later this year. One year of college. Injured. undrafted and toiled in G-league before getting a two way last year (I believe it was his first). Kept grinding and fighting. I love those stories.
I don't know what he is. I don't know if he is a rotation player on a playoff team. I do know that he made the most of his opportunity when minutes were available. I also know this team desperately missed his speed since he has been out.
Congrats. Keep fighting.

Signed today = the door is closed on also signing Jones or Edwards. The return of Exum (thus, available help for the post-season) had just about closed that door already, but now they are officially unable to sign another player for even a day.

I find myself still very interested to see how Brandon Williams can make a difference with all of our big guys now that we finally have them all back. It should be very different from not having enough point guard play to cover the whole game. Even if we only play 3 games it will be interesting. I would love to make the 8 seed because that would mean at least 8 more games

I understand what you're saying... the anger quickly turned into despair and then ended in resignation.
This is all that's left for us. I know.

I had sort of come to the conclusion that while Marshall has been good with everyone healthy that his skills probably wouldn't be fully utilized when everyone was healthy and therefore a realistic trade piece this summer.
On the other hand, Marshall started as point guard last night (I guess it was point as no one else could really dribble). He had 8 assists and was our one conssisted offensive player last night. He also has two years left on his contract at 9 million. On the other hand, PJ looks really awkward trying to dribble and create. He had 5 bad turover last night. It seems like you can see the turnovers coming. He has that go right into the body of the defender type move. It leads to way too many turnovers. PJ is also in his last year of his contact next year and what will he be looking for? 20 MIl? 25 Mil? more?
I am not sure if I want Marshall as a starter but for the first time I started to think if I would prefer him better than PJ moving forward.
I think Marshall's overall game is better than PJ's. PJ tends to disappear at times. Marshall is "Balls to the Wall" every game. His energy reminds me of Russell Westbrook, which means you have to live with some mistakes and turnovers, but the effort is always there. If he can develop into a better shooter from 3, I think the Mavs will have found a jewel of a player.

I will be real interested to see what happens to Nico this offseason. Does he get fired or decide to walk away? Life cannot be good for him now. If he leaves now or even if he doesn't he will go down in infamy in NBA circles. It will be the first paragraph of his obituary. That is tough to live with. Although, he has sort of been hiding since the trade. He has two kids who I believe are still in school. It can't be a healthy environment.
Sooner or later he will need to answer questions with the Dallas media. He was awkward answering questions from the beginning and I have no idea how he does it now. I wonder if he just exits stage left. I don't think he will ever get the fans back on his side and I am not sure this reality is good for anyone long term.

I just don't see any way he can come back. Whether he's fired or quits, be it for professional or personal reasons, he has to move on after this season.

AJ Lawson return game tonight. Are we printing up shirts for his return? In all seriousness, AJ signed a contract similar to Brandon Williams. I thought AJ was a loss cause. Really good player but just could never make enough shots. He had some other faults. His athleticism was elite though and he seemed like a hard worker. Good for him for continue to keep fighting.

Honestly I had forgotten him. Don’t know if he even gets PT but he is an asset and a body we could have used. Maybe he found his shot. Athleticism is good.

He's way better than Green. He had 32 pts a few games ago when he got the start for the Raptors. At least he's not afraid to be aggressive... Green was a dud from the start, and he has all the opportunity in the world to shine for the Hornets but is scared to take advantage of it.

AD, PJ, and Klay all out today.
We're not tanking though.
I'd like to think it has to do with not wanting to be embarrassed in elimination on our home floor. Probably more of an issue of "not wanting the important players to get hurt before our extended playoff run" self-delusion.

Or ....
.... if SAC wins (and they will, playing their starters vs the sad sack Suns who suck at full strength and are resting KD, Booker, and Beal), the Mavs have nothing to gain by winning, and a little something to gain by a loss - so might as well avoid key injuries and play for the loss.
By the way, you don't think the Mavs current playable roster can beat SAC? I think they can, and might. The Kings are NOT anything special at all. And it sure doesn't hurt to play a playoff game and see what these players can do at that level.

Agree
Kings are bad. Really bad.
And AD is made of yogurt, every game could be the last one of the season for him.

Just make it painless Mavs. I do t think anyone really wants to see more Mavs this year. Two playin wins and then being destroyed by OKc. Just lose against the kings. I am out of the country for a few weeks and don’t plan on watching the playin.
Maybe next year we come back. Excited? I think that is doubtful. They need to make miracles happen to get any excitement back.

1 I want the Mavs to win vs SAC. Playoff experience is a plus - and positive playoff experience is even better. This is a great opportunity for evaluation.
2 Then fire Nico. Period. Before he can make any more decisions. He's gotta go. He's spectacularly proven his utter incompetence as a GM.
