MAVS NEWS:
The Mavs organization is too incompetent for a top draft pick. In no way do they deserve one nor should they feel owed one.

Works for me!

EDITED TO ADD - But adding Flagg's cap hit of almost 14M would cause major payroll issues, and KD trade would be dead (for anyone who wants it to happen). That's because they would then be landing well over Apron 2 which would make most trades almost impossible until they got under Apron 2. They would be okay running with THAT roster and re-signing their own, but trades would be much harder, and getting back under Apron 2 would take incredible creativity to resolve.

Yeah, if only.

The league would never actually let it happen because the conspiracy theories would be so so strong.

I've already seen some rumblings on twitter saying there is a chance Kyrie could have a quad tendon rupture. Of course these are all speculative takes and there has been nothing concrete. But if that is the case, then we may have seen the end of Kyrie's career.

Kyrie Irving injury:

(1) His left quad “jumps” before it hits the ground. Seen in tendon ruptures

(2) Knee lands in hyperextension, putting ACL/LCL/meniscus at risk

Hopefully wrong but not expecting great news

Watch the video if you want. You can see what he's talking about. That "recoil" he's pointing out is not a good thing and something I missed on my several rewatches. That makes me even more weary about Kyrie's prognosis.

This is getting worse by the minute

The Mavs are in the cruelest level of purgatory. They could finish the season on a 3-17 clip and STILL likely back into the play-in game featuring little more than a G-League team.

Why?

Even with a locked-in KD trying to play his way into a trade, the Suns have a BRUTAL final schedule.

This is going to be a painfully awkward play-in game.

Ya never know. They've been playing really well. Billups finally has them buying in.

I’m finding it increasingly difficult to care about this team.

It’s not difficult to CARE it’s just difficult to WATCH.  And now with the Kyrie injury there’s nothing worth watching and very little this season to be hopeful about.  If Kyrie’s injury is indeed a career killer then the KD trade, which i hate by the way, is dead.  It also makes no sense to keep AD or Klay.  Sell them off to the highest bidder then start the rebuild around Max, Lively, and PJ and pray you get lucky in the draft.  Welcome back to the 90’s!

I know. I’ve been watching the Lakers and trying to watch the Mavs. I never would have imagined that would be the case but here we are. I’m hoping things pick up. This has turned into the worst possible scenario for Dallas now with Kyrie’s injury.

Even if they get everyone healthy but Kyrie is out for a while it really won’t matter for this year.

It will need to be a quick rebuild.  We have one more year to truly tank, and then there is no value to losing for years.

Well 2027 is top 2 protected.

2028-2030 will be a dark time though if the Mavs haven’t improved by then.

The only way this team tanks next year is if we go through the same injury hell we've gone through this year. I don't think their plan has changed at all.

I would think this means no Davis, Lively, or Gafford this season either. Zero reason to bring them back for the last month of the season.
