I am still grieving the Luka trade and initially decided I was done. I bet most of us felt this way. But, seriously, after last night's win with nothing but bench players.....watching them give maximum effort...AD and Christie giving us vibes like they are really glad they are here....I just don't know. I'm still angry, I still think the trade was awful, I still feel betrayed, but....just like that scene in Brokeback Mountain...."I can't quit you."
I have been a Mavs fan since the early 90's and the 3 J's period. I was depressed as hell in 2006 when the title was stolen from the Mavs. I was even more depressed in 2007 watching the team lose to Golden State in the first round. The championship in 2011 was awesome only to be followed by years of disappointment again.
I ask you.....is there something wrong with me, or us, really? Why do we keep on keeping on?

Even though you feel like your favorite team is putting it to you from behind, you still like/love your favorite team, as a fan. And how about all that hustle and ball-movement? Your team doesn't care about you, on a personal level, but that team full of 6ths-men-at-best sure are entertaining at basketball. Yep, that's up to date Mavs fandom.

Conflicted is the right word, for sure.
The Luka era had so much promise, and it's traumatic to have it snatched out from under us out of nowhere, with absolutely no warning. So, it's normal to feel weird about where the team is now, I'd say.
But, (speaking for myself) the team IS more fun to watch right now. There are already positives peeking their heads up out of the ashes of this month's fire. I don't think saying so means there's anything wrong with you or us.

Don’t be conflicted. Just root for the Mavs and root for Luka. It’s double the fun and easy these days with league pass, except for the late west coast starts. I’ll probably be rooting Luka on until he wins a title and shuts all the haters up. That won’t take more than 2 years. After that, I’ll just go back to hating the Lakers.

No. That's just wrong.

Yes, I feel the same way.
My life was turned upside down on October 20, 2003, when the Mavs traded away Raef Lafrentz for Antoine Walker. I had such high hopes for the Raef era.
Somehow, I was able to recover and actually stayed a fan, and learned how to root for Dirk and Fin and Nash.

You don't pick who you love but you decide how you choose to support them. I've been out on the Cowboys for a while and after so much mismanagement, the Mavs aren't far behind on that sentiment. I hope the best for the players as none of this is their fault.

I will never root for Lakers either. I hope luka can achieve some success there though, personally or collectively.
