Game 56: Miami Heat (25-27) vs. Dallas Mavericks (29-26) | 7:30pm CST
#41
The Mavs have played so well being short-handed it gives me hope for when we are a complete team. I just hope we can stay healthy. Max Christie is going to be a starter in no time.

I was iffy about Kidd as coach at various points since he's been here, but this is a very well coached team with a system they get and adapt to. Big time kudos to coach Kidd.

The team is good. Just need to get healthy. I doubt they can change course this dramatically and still have a championship ceiling (if they even did before the trade) but they’re going to be closer to that level than I anticipated if some things start breaking right.

I was afraid we weren't going to have many players that could create their own shot but I'm absolutely shook at how many players seem to be able to do enough to make their own shot. Christie showed flashes of that. Edwards. Exum has been excellent. I just hope to see the complete team at *some point* this season.

Man, Nico burned so many good vibes with the Luka trade but *ignoring all that, imagine Luka was just a very very good player and we all didn't love him and felt like we lost a loved one*, Nico really seems to know how to find excellent players.

He's done a good job, but he has some competition. Atkinson, Bickerstaff, JJ Redick, Udoka, Malone
Daigneault, Jenkins. Anyone of those guys could win.

seems kidd has miraculously become a competent and good coach all of a sudden somehow.

The Mavs were missing their projected entire starting lineup along with 2 key cogs off the bench and somehow pull out a victory. Kidd has been coaching his ass off. Hopefully, we'll have a rested Kyrie and Klay along with PJ and Martin after the All Star Break. And then Gafford, AD and Lively within a few weeks (fingers crossed).

This team, if healthy, can win it all.

We have a very scrappy team.  Unfortunately Nico has burned all the bridges I would have crossed--for him.

He had to do more than give the ball to Luka. Turns out he can do some coaching and even end of game play calling.

Without a doubt, this was a great and unexpected win. However, let’s not get too ahead of ourselves as the Heat were fairly depleted as well, and the game looked like a summer league match up for the first 15 minutes.

I’ve never been so excited to make it to the all star break as I am this season. I’m crossing my fingers and toes that we can get Gafford back by next weekend. He seemed to be moving pretty well on the bench LOL.

Kidd should definitely get some kudos for keeping this group together during a period where things so easily could have gone to hell.

Ware is a really interesting young player, he is not Lively though. Lively does the little things that really impact winning.

What happened to Jacquez? I loved him in the draft and was pissed when the Heat took him. I looked right last year. Now I may be wrong.

I know that heat team is missing people, but they just don’t have much. Sort of stuck in the middle…when healthy.

Which of these two teams looks more demoralized tonight about losing their best player recently?

Our guys definitely don’t look demoralized. So Miami. Our whole team is playing like they have a chance to really compete in the playoffs. I love the way they are playing and apparently thinking.
All these guys also love taking their opportunities when they get them.

Speaking of Gafford, he has an MCL sprain which is odd given it appeared to be a hyperextension injury on the replay. Obviously there was also some lateral force to the impact. Either way, things sound somewhat optimistic, and Gaff’s recent tweet sounded positive as well.

Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford will sit out at least six weeks because of a Grade 3 sprain of the MCL in his right knee, sources told ESPN on Thursday night.

Playing defense, moving the ball on offense. Very little pouting when a call doesn't go their way. Taking the open shot without hesitation.

Hardy's regression is sad. Other, fringe players have passed him.

Re: Daniel Gafford: A G3 MCL sprain is considered a complete tear. Surgery isn’t required, especially if meniscus involvement is minimal. Average time lost for non-surgical cases in the NBA is 26 games (60 days).

Included on this list is current Mavs assistant coach Jared Dudley who missed 34 games in the 2020-21 season.
