MAVS NEWS:
(02-10-2025, 12:49 PM)vfromlmf Wrote: Not sure I've seen this discussed but according to Stein, I think we should be getting some news today re AD's injury. Folks seem to be thinking "up to a month" but I'm guessing it could be longer if he requires surgery. I can't think of a worse outcome tbh.... actually it cuold get much worse for Nico if Luka looks dominant in his return. This could be a really really really bad day for the Mavs.

I'm thinking AD's injury could turn out to be less serious than we currently think. Maybe that's just wishful thinking, but I'm ready to hear more.

Hoping you're right but Stein retweeting @instreetclothes guys assessment of surgery ending the season concerns me.  Feels like it's a few weeks without surgery and season over with surgery.

This has been the baffling part to me, this is going to be a revenue killer of a decision.

Should be fair to point out that the market cap of Sands has also dropped 7 billion dollars since Dumont was  placed in a leadership capacity so maybe it's not that surprising....

Bob Voulgaris (haralabob or whatever that guys name is), has a very "high" opinion of Dumont and his statement. Unfortunately my company locked all social networks on our computers and I am not logged in to this board on the phone, so someone else please look it up on X Smile He said something in line that Dumont, who married to money, really shouldn't be "smart" about what it takes to win to someone like Luka. In any case, Mavs are really trying hard to double down on their intent to smear Luka. The so called immature Luka is behaving much more mature in this specific case, despite being really hurt emotionally.

This one?

"The arena sits on a street named Nowitzki Way. Out front, a statue honors him, and his silhouette is etched into the court.

And yet, when it came time to reach deep for an example of a relentless worker, someone who set the cultural tone of an organization who could serve as a barometer for its work ethic, he came up with Shaq.

He's not an exceptional person, he's someone who luckboxed his way into the position he's in and feels as though he can lecture people on work ethic and culture as he eats his 4th dessert of the day."

I think I saw a different twit, but very similar message.

sneaky reason for the two game winning streak is low turnovers. 5 and 8. It will be interesting to see if this is just random or if they can continue the low turnover play.

That could change tonight. If Exum doesn’t play, with his sore Achilles, we probably see Hardy point guard minutes.

Mavericks and fan base on a collision course.

Problem is they won't take the hard cap away if ratings and revenue continue to go down.  That will just go back to big markets signing all the big players and the smaller markets suffering for it.  GS being able to get KD was not good for the league.

The "healthy" list tonight is an incredibly scary lineup, and not in a good way.

Gafford
Edwards
Naji
Klay
Kyrie

Subs - SD, Hardy, OMax, Williams, Kelley

Yikes. That's it, unless they can get the questionables into the mix. But with the questionables it gets way more competitive:

Gafford
PJW
Christie
Klay
Kyrie

Subs - Omax, Naji, SD, Hardy, Edwards, Williams, Kelley

People are not seeing the forest for the trees. The focus is on TV ratings, but NBA revenue has gone through the roof.  The NBA and its players are NOT suffering, it's just the opposite - the size of player contracts has exploded, and so have owner profits.

With the hard caps, and all the teams spending within a certain range, we will have what we have. Limits, hard choices, and teams avoiding hard cap penalties. The end result will continue to be that all teams have a shot at good players because no team has payroll room to monopolize talent, and there will be ongoing player movement (driven BOTH by player preferences and team decision-making).

That comment in the article about the CBA being changed reactive to all this was pure ignorance since it's half a decade before any CBA change could be considered. But the mass of money everyone is getting will more likely lead to general satisfaction rather than an undercurrent for big change when we get there. And as I see it, there's 1 Draymond whining about the fact GS couldn't keep their dominant team together and be the ongoing winner, while the vast majority of the other 449 NBA players (and owners) have been glad to see it go.

tank this season and give davis and everyone a complete heal. maybe we'll get compensated with a top three pick in the draft for giving up luka. seems the mavs only play great every other year (like the spurs of 2000s), WCF and finals appearances, and next year with everyone healthy and the addition of a top rookie we will eventually win the championship probably.

Kidd says the Mavs are “still evaluating” the AD injury which sounds like they’re hiding something really bad.

Shades of Lively being *questionable* with a right ankle sprain and then later being ruled out for 3 months with a fracture.

The 30 for 30 on this whole shit show is gonna be a banger. “The Curse of Luka Doncic.”
You just KNOW he’s fixing to hang a 50 pt triple double on them in his return.

He is on the Lakers now.  I hope he has a terrible game whenever he plays the Mavs. I don’t hate the ownership and GM as much as I love the players who are here and playing hard.  They will have mine and hopefully all the fans’ support. They are playing for us now. Not Luka anymore as surreal as it is to utter those words.

never a fan of the Lakers but i hope luka can achieve some success there playing alongside the second greatest player of all time. would be fun and a bit weird to watch mavs and luka's team facing each other in the playoffs, but this probably won't happen until next season tbh.

The fit with Lebron is much better than with Kyrie, which was great. Lebrons size makes him much easier to find for Luka. In addition it works the other way as well. Kyrie just could rarely find Luka and his paths, it is not Kyries strength the passing, jis limited size makes it difficult.

The game yesterday, it was immediately clear that Luka and Lebron find each other with ease. This is just going to become much stronger with time. Also the two are running a similar offense and it is just clear the understanding of lanes and spatial awreness is just more on the same page.

The biggest impact will be on Lebron. He will have the space that he never even remotely had in his career. This is exactly what he needs this point in his career, like Kyries impact went up and efficiency playing with Luka, I believe Lebron will see same effect if not more. He has the size and IQ to exploit the spaces that Luka will find him with, and the other way around. Its going to be the greatest show we have seen. However, the lack of a good center will be the limiting factor for the Lakers this season. I can see Lakers going all the way even without the center. Luka and Lebron and AR is going to be unstoppable and they have 3 and D wings that are shooting very well. There are no holes, besides center. Thats going to be the Archilles heel for them.
