Ok, didn't know that, thanks. That, combined with Harrison specifically mentioning him at the "press conference" has me backing away from the ledge.

I do think it's just him about to be a dad but Nico also did say that Luka's value to the franchise couldn't be measured like two weeks ago.  He's a snake.

Kidd had played PJ a lot at the 3 this season though so I feel like it may have all just been prepping for this.

PJ Washington has been downgraded to OUT for tonight's game against the 76ers due to personal reasons. Washington's wife just gave birth to their new child.

PJ is my favorite player left on the team. This would hurt me. Brunson, Luka, PJ. I would need some time away from the Mavs...

DLive and PJ.  Both seem to be good dudes and are exciting to watch and impactful on the court.  DLive is ours we drafted him, which makes all the difference in the world.  Don’t misunderstand I love watching Kyrie.  But although Kyrie wears a Mavs jersey, he’s not a Mav if you know what I mean.
There is just something different to cheering for a player you drafted and watched grown into an All-Star.  Dirk was that guy.  Luka was that guy.  Brunson was that guy.  Now it’s just DLive and hopefully in the near future OMax.

Totally agree. But...

...the reason Lively's rookie year was so successful relative to his college year and draft position is that he's a pick and roll big who was not in a pick and roll system in college. I have a feeling he's going to be right back in that situation now, post trade.

Try to remember all of the great chemistry plays between Kyrie and Lively (or Gafford, for that matter). There aren't many, and Kyrie, great as he is, is not a pick and roll PG. Is that even the offense they're about to run?

Lively is still on track to be great, defensively, of course. But as far as I'm concerned, he needs a Luka...or a prime CP3, or a Harden, or an SGA, or a BRUNSON, or some other GREAT pick and roll guy, to do his thing on offense. Since they're not likely to get one of those guys until Lively is like 28, maybe not even then, I find it hard to care whether he is here much longer, and doubly so for Gafford.

I will say though, Lively has flashed a post game and incredible touch.

I don’t think he’s solely a lob catcher. Of course he’s elite at that, and to truly unlock full value from Lively you need a guard that can find those angles.

Asked Anthony Davis how much power forward he expects to play: “I think I’m going to be playing a lot of four. Obviously, Derrick is dealing with an injury. Gaff has been playing phenomenal. So I think that’s the plan. But we will see how that goes.”

I got there yesterday, mentally, so it's like telling me "yes, it turns out your favorite shirt DID, in fact get destroyed in the fire that burned your entire house down" at this point. Meh.

He just complained to the media last week about the Lakers needing a center so he can play the 4.   Once Lively is healthy, he is definitely getting the majority of his minutes at the 4.  I've seen several analysts say AD likes to roam on defense as a free safety.  He believes if there is a rim protecting center next to him, it plays to his strengths.

I trust Killerleft and the modern trend to not play two bigs together but I want to see how it works when Lively is healthy.  If it's a disaster, I can see them moving one of the big guys in the offseason.

"There has been belief, which multiple team and league sources expressed to me over the past months long before this trade, that Harrison does not have a long-term desire to remain in his current role as general manager."

Seems like a pertinent thing for an owner to know!

There's you realistic conspiracy theory.

Nico leaves and goes back to Nike.  Do you know what he just did for Nike?  Do you know why he ONLY talked to the Lakers?

I think Nico wants to win next 2-3 years and then he’s out. He’s operating like someone who only has couple years. Doesn’t care about loyalty

D Magazine.  He's quoting a DLLS article.

Cato also reported there was a framework in place to send out Gafford and Maxi and bring back Myles Turner.  I just...I can't believe this shit anymore.

I just can't see that.  He's exactly the kind of "culture" that Nico is trying to build.  Tough and versatile on the defensive end, reasonably competent on the offensive end.  Can drive to the hole, but also step back and hit an open three.

From Nico's perspective, he's more integral to the team than Luka was.

For Nico to nuke the franchise just because he’s out of here in a year or two makes me even more angry.
