Klay Thompson!  Shadows of years past.  This is what we got him for.  Unfortunately it was mostly only for the first quarter.  Is one quarter of play Dirkie worthy?  I'll have to think about that.  He did set the tone.

Numerous players contributed to the win tonight.  P.J, Gafford, Kyrie, Thompson, Omax, and a few lesser players:  Edwards, Grimes, and Hardy.

In my mind only P.J., Gafford, Thompson, and Omax rose to the level of being considered for the Dirkie.  Or at least MY Dirkie.

I don't think one quarter of play, admittedly super play, rises to the necessary level.  So no Thompson.

Omax is still raw.  He needs to learn "pace"...know when to go, know when to cruise.  You never stand around...and Omax doesn't.

So...Omax, Gafford, and P.J., Omax, Gafford, and P.J.  Damn this is hard.  I'm giving my Dirkie to P.J. Washington.  He earned it the old fashioned way.

This would have been a closer game, if it was just PJ vs. Washington. How badly run is this franchise? No 50-win season since the 70s in the Leastern Conference.

Trading Avdija was another dumb decision. Coulibaly and Avdija would have been their two best young players with actual potential going forward, and especially strong on the (in high demand) defensive end. Valanciunas is so bad, he´s not even tradeable. He´s likely a good culture guy, cause they sure need a leader with Jordan "I´m an All-Star" Poole and Kyle "I´m cool" Kuzma as the other veterans.

Klay wins the Dirkie but what’s actually important about this game is that Kidd has no choice but to play OMax. The Maxi injury may turn the season around.

wizards are bad. Last half of the game was a glorified pick up game, but Mavs took care of business.

Klay got it started with a boom. Gafford with another strong game. The difference between PJ and Kuzma was glaring. Kuzma looks really heavy and slow. They may be stuck with him. Omax probably played probably the most decisivie and confident as I have seen. In his role, he may play 10 minutes and get one shot. Although, when you get a good look, you need to be confident in it. He did last night (so did Edwards). His confidence was also high. He was dribbling through his legs and behind the back in traffic. It was not always pretty but he looks to be playing with more confidence. Lets see if he can put some nice games together.

I really liked Din's game. Mavs didn't need his scoring and Dinwiddie was in the setup role. Played within himself and got others good looks.

It was a really weird trade. Portland really likes Avdija. He has been good there.  Still only 24 too. IMO they are doing Coulibaly no favors.   He is not ready.  There are a lot of things to like but the role they are asking him to fill is going to mean disappointment.  Maybe the reps will help, but even with a tanking team I think he would be better in a reserve role as he continues to develop.

Washington got Brogdon, the # 14 pick ( they seem to like Carrington, but he is so young and seems a far way off), a 29th first that has Portland has some choices on and two seconds.   I personally think keeping Deni was the better move.  Move Kuzma, Move Poole.   They would have still stunk, but Deni would have been a solid player for a team lacking many solid players.
