SHOULD HAVE TRADEE MAXI ASAP. NOW screwed and stuck with him

Yeah, that's unfortunate. All teams get hit with the injury bug, but it usually doesn't affect the Mavs especially with how many players they've lost at one time. Maxi is probably at the end of his rope. He’s hurt every year now.

That sucks for Maxi. I feel bad for him. I didn’t get a chance to watch the game. I don’t know the severity but this could be a career killer. He is already over 30 and can’t stay healthy. Right now I believe he is mostly salary filler and not a player teams really have interest in.

I never believed he was a guy who you finish games with any longer. If he was, your team is not good enough. He is now a spot player who if he gets a hot hand or the right matchup you can have him in the finishing lineup. The issue for every good game he has, he has a few where he is not good. Tough to count on him.

Unfortunately, he is a negative asset right now. To get a team to take him, you are going to need to give up an asset. The Mavs had to rely on him with all the injuries. It is unfortunate that he got injured again and Mavs need to realize you can’t count on him mov8ng forward.

Maxi’s body held up longer this year than I thought it would. Certainly this is no surprise. He’s shooting 28% from the 3 as a 3 and D player and has a PER of 6. That’s not even close to passable for an NBA player. He seems like a first rate guy. I like him. But, there are probably 50 players in the GLeague, overseas, and even on the street who are better. From the beginning, I’ve said he never should have been signed to that contract, but it’s expiring next year so maybe it has some value to a losing team with a bloated payroll.

First there was “3J” Washington. Now we will probably see “5J” Washington….I certainly hope the Mavs don’t spend any significant assets to cover the center spot.

I'm not going add anything to the frustration about yet another injured player. I'm also not in the "we should have traded him before, I told you so camp". And sure don't dicredit the the services he provided us so far and made him earn his current contract.

What I'm gonna say is that he is here for a reason. He's a very servicable, flexible to use role player when healthy. He even showed that this season.

But what's also true is the percentage of games where this version of Maxi showed up decreased. This reminds me of Alex Caruso. Undenied skills, but needs to take care of his health.

Looking forward: lets first wait for how long this will sideline him. He will receive a few more opportunities to show that he still can be counted on. I just don't want to see him do that again somewhere else then here.

That’s the way I’d distribute minutes until Luka and Exum are back. Plenty of firepower there. Let’s see if the Mavs can win these winnable games to end the month.

Vs WSH (6-38)
@ NOP (12-34)
@ DET (23-22)

Mavs are doing their best Texas Rangers impression. Maxi has been one of my favorite Mavs over the last decade but he needs to hang it up. I know he has $11 million due next year so that's not gonna happen. This is why I've been saying you can't trade Gafford.

Guerschon Yabusele might be available. I like him to give you minutes at the 4 and 5. Not sure what his value is or if we have any 2nd round picks left to trade. Maybe the 76ers would be interested in Hardy or Omax. Obviously not trading a 1st with all the injuries but if Luka is healthy post All Star break, I don't think the season is over.

Whatever the Mavs do to replace Maxi will be an improvement. The Mavs played four on five most nights with him in the lineup. His days as a viable NBA player have been over for some time. This injury isn’t a concern at all as far as team performance goes. It just sucks for Maxi the person.

I haven't been a fan of Maxi the player for some time now. That being said, I hate that he's injured. He's probably one of the best teammates and people to ever play for Mavs and at his peak, he was a damn good role player. His body just can't do it anymore and he can't shoot now.i wish him a speedy recovery, but he's not someone that can be counted on. Hopefully he can return and add a spark at times in the playoffs.

Maxi was a negative asset before the injury. His only value in a trade is salary filler and that hasn’t changed. It made more sense to trade him after the season when he is less of a negative asset and that hasn’t changed either.

He can play 5 vs certain teams. He won't stand a chance vs someone like the Joker.

Yeah. We really just need a guy who can dominate the Joker.

Thanks!

Good to see that there are a few people here who can still think even after losing another player. The others should ask themselves why they are (over)reacting so much...

These next three games are pretty big for Dallas. They need to start gaining some steam. Even if they are shorthanded. Wizards, Pelicans and Pistons. Pistons are pretty decent and play hard. Pelicans are playing better. Dallas needs a 3-0 run.

The Dallas Mavericks have signed center Kylor Kelley to a two-way contract and waived two-way guard Jazian Gortman, team says.

An elite shot blocker and seemingly okay defender. The idea seems to somehow impersonate DLive while he's out.

I wonder what other options Nico & Co. were thinking about...

I liked Gortman - would have waived Williams instead.
