The Phoenix Suns are trading their 2031 unprotected first to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The Suns are acquiring the least favorable firsts in 2025 of Cleveland/Minnesota, 2027 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah and 2029 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah

This is an aggressive move for Phoenix and unlocks the franchise's next six drafts -- and most importantly, breaks up their lone tradable first in 2031 into three future firsts. The Suns now have tripled their first-rounders.

According to a source familiar with Heat's plans this is one of the steps toward a Jimmy Butler trade. Picks plus likely a pair of players then would come to the Heat for Jimmy, in what will be at least a four-team deal and, quite possibly, more than that.

Beal would have to relinquish his no trade clause for that to happen, and what becomes of Yusef Nurkic? I'm sure he's somewhere in the equation.

This would be a lot easier, if Beal didn´t have a no-trade clause.
I assume it´s Miami, who does not want Beal, so then you are looking at a salary dump place, which Beal will likely turn down. Which contender would be idiotic enough to give up 50M in decent players for Beal. So basically it is the Lakers, but are they really better if they have to send Reaves, Hachimura + X the other way?

It sounds like it might be Milwaukee that lands Beal. A lot of noise though. I know MIL may feel stuck but is moving Portis, Middleton, and Pat C (for this the team getting Pat C would need some kind of asset) really help? Seems adding Beal with his salary and injury concerns just smells of desperation. Also, in some proposed trades I see Miami winds up with Middleton and Bruce Brown? How does this really benefit Miami. None of these teams are getting good draft picks either from PHX. Maybe the 29 pick, but who wants to wait that long to get an asset?
PHX has found ways to make deals. It just hasn't impacted winning yet.

two things:
1) Phx is trying and trying, but they just seem to be spinning in place. I do think Butler would be an upgade over Beal, but we will see.
2) I guess it is a good gamble for Utah. Although it would be sort of depressing talking about a 2031 unprotected pick. In the 80's I thought we would have flying cars by now. Instead, we are talking about 2031 draft picks.

ah crap...beat me to it
As good as Nico has been, imagine if we ended up with Kuzma and Portis instead of PJ and Gafford. Portis is one of the worst defensive bigs in the league. The THJ of bigs if you will.

Middleton has negative trade value... $31.6m this year, $34m next. His value is that of what, half of the MLE?
