The Brooklyn Nets are finalizing a deal to send guard Dennis Schroder and one second-round pick to the Golden State Warriors for De'Anthony Melton and three second-round picks, sources told ESPN. A dynamic playmaker and scorer arriving to the Warriors.

The Warriors envision starting lineups with Dennis Schroder and Stephen Curry in the backcourt, with Schroder able to alleviate ball-handling responsibilities at point guard. Golden State made him a priority to complete this deal.

There were indeed talks between the Warriors and Nets that involved both Dennis Schroder and Cam Johnson, sources said, but for now this just sounds like the veteran point guard heading to Golden State.

Details on Nets-Warriors second rounders in Dennis Schroder trade: Nets acquired three unprotected second round draft picks (2026 via Atlanta, 2028 via Atlanta and 2029 Golden State's own). They sent GSW 2025 second round draft pick (via Miami). In a related transaction, the Nets have requested waivers on forward Cui Yongxi.

I think a pretty good trade for Golden State. Melton's injury hurt them and he is gone for the season. Not sure it really changes Golden State's outlook, but they add a good player. There is a lot of ifs with Shroeder. But if he is in the right environment with the right team, he can be a productive player.

They essentially got Schroder for free, which is pretty interesting given the season he's had thus far. He's been great. Albeit on a bad Nets team. But if his international play is any indicator, he can still be a really good player.

Whether or not he's what the Warriors need, I don't really know. Melton was great for them as a versatile defender, scorer, and passer. Schroder COULD be all of those things. But he's very rarely been all of those things at once.
