They do in baseball.  That is obviously a more powerful union, but they put a lot of pressure on players not to take pay cuts.  Of course teams are not nearly as constrained so its a different environment, but it can happen.

I don't really follow baseball - do they have a set percentage of revenue that has to paid to the players? Because that's the central point F Gump is making. The new rules mean the particular distribution has changed somewhat, but the players collectively (which is the whole point of the Players association) are getting the exact same amount of money they would have gotten before the new rules went into place.
