Trade & FA 2024-25:

That would require making the Marshall acquisition a S&T and then re-working Klay's contract to start at $12.8... million. That ship has sailed!

I'm not sure where the "let's trade Maxi" idea suddenly got legs.

It's not like he's going to be heavily relied on or play a lot of minutes. He can be quite useful when he's healthy, and he's particularly important as a big who can guard wings.

It hasn't sailed. I'm sure the Pelicans would be happy to accept the 2nd that we're offering to the Warriors to S&T Naji to Dallas. It's a free pick.

In any case, everyone seems to be talking about a S&T with the Warriors as inevitable.
I still hope that they can figure out how to get rid of Maxi and Powell. We cannot have weaknesses if we want to win a chip.
maxi is a solid big when healthy, at least he ain't as bad as something you wanna get rid of. Powell is a scrub and he is paid like one, so it doesn't matter having him to fill the roster, also I wouldn't mind using him as a filler for a future trade.

The sign and trade is done for Thompson, source tells ESPN. Dallas will send two second-round picks to Golden State, source says.

two seconds for Klay ain't a bad deal either. the cap space saved by signing him about 16m/yr as opposed to 20m/yr makes more sense than a second round pick imho.

The 2031 second rounder, and the other just re-routed from Charlotte??

Both of the Charlotte picks, I assume.

I stand corrected. Don’t love this, but only a minor thing.

Do we have the details of which picks Dallas received for Green?

Warriors to acquire either the Nuggets’ or Sixers’ 2025 second-round pick (whichever is least favorable; from Hornets) and the Mavericks’ 2031 second-round pick, in addition to generating a trade exception worth about $16MM.
For the techies, is there a way to insert a spreadsheet into a post? I was going to post the Mavs cap situation but didn't want to go through the tedium of one item after another. And I can't figure out how to copy-and-paste a set of cells into this post from a spreadsheet, where they reside, if that's doable.

Thanks in advance.

The Mavs will start training camp KNOWING who their starting 5 is, even if WE don't know yet who will start at center. I think that's an underrated angle here, considering how much it will help, early season

This 1000%

Plus the entire playing roster from the playoffs is almost basically intact. Only major loss was DJJ. Dan made a great post highlighting that while DJJ fit well, he wasn't irreplaceable. I'm still a little skeptical.

Despite that, there WILL be a continuity buff. I think a training camp with Luka/Kyrie/PJ/Lively(or Gafford) will only enhance their chemistry as a starting 5 and Klay will integrate seamlessly.

So did we trade Josh Green for a single 2nd round pick? Or are we missing details?

If you click "preview post" at the bottom (or "reply" on anyone's other post), you can attach files to upload. But it will just be a downloadable file for anyone to download and won't appear in the body of your text.

If you want, you can take a screenshot of the spreadsheet that you want to upload and instead upload the .jpg or .png file and that will be viewable to people without having to download your document.

I seriously think that Klay was the perfect missing piece for them. He is also very motivated right now. Klay desperately wants to win more titles to stick it to the Warriors. They paid Dray and Steph but didn't pay him the same way because they were so over the cap. He is coming in with a chip on his shoulder.

I'm telling you guys that this is the adding Tyson Chandler to the 2010-2011 Mavs.
Find me at Lakersball.com. I'm done with the Nico and the Mavs.

we traded green to Charlotte for 2 2nd round picks, which also creates a trade exception for us, and then sent those two picks to GS and acquired Klay with exception so here is also my question: is the exception that got us Klay the one created in the green deal, or the previous one from THJ deal? if the former, we might have sent something else to either Charlotte or GS to make salaries match. I tend to think it is the latter tbh.

In one trade (fixed using Tyler's catch below)....

DAL trades Green to CHA and sends 2031 SRP to GS, and gets Klay from GS, and the better of SRP x and y from CHA.

GS sends Klay to DAL, and gets 2031 SRP from DAL the lesser of SRP x and y from CHA.

CHA gets Green, and sends one SRP apiece to DAL and GS.

DAL won't get a TPE - they send Green and he''s the trade match for Klay. GS gets a TPE for the size of Klay's salary.
