Agree, but Kidd might be a stand in the corner coach. 

I think Klay will be other places besides the corner, but I don't know if they're about to install some elaborate off-ball screening system for him. I hope they do a little of that, don't get me wrong!

I guess we'll see what else Kidd has in his bag, and not just with Klay. My hope has been that the offense is under construction and evolving. What will Kidd add with a shooter like Klay, and with DLive able to hit threes in games? 

I even thought about you when thinking about a lineup with a Luka, Kyrie, Klay, PJ, DLive. Surely Kidd is smart enough to add five out elements to this team, with PJ and DLive in the corners, and Luka, Kyrie and Klay stressing teams to death on the wing and above the break.

Yeah Bobby is repeating what I'm saying here. The Mavs are hard capped at the 1st apron. That limit is 178.2

The Mavs total team salary with Lawson on the books is:  $175,878,409

That leaves them below the 1st apron with about  $2,253,591 of room remaining and a roster of 14 players.

They could waive Lawson's deal and open up  $4,374,274 of space, which is just a hair under the BAE (that is 4.7mil). That is also the amount of space they have remaining of the MLE. So the Mavs can save their BAE if they want to.

To the right is what the Mavs currently have available to them. $4.4M of the MLE left or they can waive Lawson and get the $4.8M BAE. I think it’s safe to assume Morris will be back on a minimum deal and being only 3M short of the first apron, probably safe to assume the likeliest path is waive Lawson and Sign a VetMin PG and re-sign Morris with VetMin and be done.

I don't see the point of bringing Morris back.  He should either retire or try to find a team that will give him a chance to play.  There have to be better vet min options out there.  I guess if it's just due to his relationship with Kyrie it's fine.

The Warriors will acquire a trade exception, plus a second-round pick from the Hornets.

Thompson will be making $50 million over three years in Dallas.

One of the big reasons Thompson chose Dallas over the Lakers was state taxes on his annual value.

Golden State is now pivoting to an aggressive pursuit of Lauri Markkanen after missing out on Paul George.

I don't trust Exum to survive enough games in the regular season and stay fresh/healthy. Another vet PG could make a big difference.

I think the locker room might disagree, but maybe they'll hire him as a coach instead. 

I don't get into a twist about things like that. It'd be one thing if they didn't have young guys around developing, but they have a ton. More than they can actually plausibly develop, honestly. 

If they want to use those last couple of spots on guys like Morris and Powell (whom are probably around just because they're cool guys and won't bitch about not playing ahead of guys clearly better than them), more power to them. They're the ones who have to get on the team plan and deal with the day-to-day life of this. Clearly, teams think they get something out of choices like that.
