Lebron and Rich Paul already talking about he might take a pay cut if the Lakers can make a significant addition with the MLE.

They're saying that, but I doubt they view Jones as worthy. LeBron would need a SIGNIFICANT pay cut to make it possible.

I'll say it again: think more DeRozan level than DJJ level with that.

Not worried.

and about twice the defender Klay is. not as good a catch and ahooter, but with better all round offensive skills. PG would be an excellent 3rd option for us, solid on both ends, but I doubt he would settle for the such a role like the third option and the salary he's gonna demand would far exceed what we can afford tbh.
Would adding BOTH Klay AND Jones, both at MLE money and NOT starting at $21 million for Thompson, change the tune for anyone?

Because if he wants to stay in the West, I think that's maybe what he'll have to take.
Oh ok so Klay will be going to the Lakers.
Is Paul George going to sign his Philly max on Day 1, or make everyone wait a week to get paid like Kawhi did last time?

Well, I bet JJ Redick is into it!
The idea of a Klay SnT and Green to the Warriors plus maybe a 2031 pick swap into the Mavs 16.2 mil TPE is looking more realistic????

The Lakers can't offer that unless the Warriors want to give D'Angelo Russell another go around this time??

I suppose it depends where Klay wants to end up but if its between a team fresh off a finals appearance who desperately needs shooting vs. whatever the Lakers are trying to do... well you guys know my answer

Out.
I cant see him leaving California for Texas.

you can still trade a pick swapped pick. And the Mavs are way more likely to be competitive in 2031 than the Warriors right now.

The Dallas Mavericks could sign and trade for Klay Thompson and re-sign Derrick Jones Jr. with the $12.9 million mid-level exception while fielding a roster below the $178.7 million first apron.

A sign-and-trade for Thompson could work pretty easily by trading Maxi Kleber or Josh Green, the latter of which became more expendable with the arrival of Quentin Grimes.

The big variable is where Thompson's salary starts. If gets into the high teens, they might need to move both players to make everything fit under the first apron.

I'd be good with this, although I don't think the pick swap is needed if we are giving them Green. Green is pretty damn good value for someone leaving them.

OUT.

I can see Thompson being better here than most can, apparently, so I'm with you a little, but I'm NOT getting into a bidding war over a 34 year old non all-star.

Green is enough. Either he wants to play here or he doesn't. If his interest in Dallas in totally contingent on who can pay him the most or who can offer the most goodies to GS, I am so out you'll never know I was in.

That's fair. I only floated that idea as a potential sweetner.

I'm also not interested in a bidding war over Klay and if we were actually going to spend assets, lets go get KCP with that mindset.

Up to Klay to decide if he wants the Lakers and their play in team or the Mavericks.

Chris Haynes, live on the B/R app named Klay Thompson as one of those “impact players” LeBron would be willing to take less money for to enable the Lakers to sign.

LeBron would need to take roughly $16 million less to open up the full MLE for the Lakers.

That's $16 million in the first year, right? Many, many million over the course of his deal.

Zero chance LeBron gives up 16 million. He's not Dirk.
