Shamet's 2nd year appears to be a team option so it's still going to be Dallas paying to make that swap. Definitely underwhelming.

If not him...What if it’s a KP-Hardaway type deal with Avdija-Shamet We take on their bad contract they would need to attach assets to dump(Shamet). We give them our 2025 pick so they have one in next years draft. The good young player they get is Green. And we get Avdija in return This would open some space for DJJ. Find a team willing to absorb the Powell contract and i believe we could pay DJJ his worth

Bagley and Holmes are also expiring. Not sure we can re-acquire Holmes yet? Those are the three contracts, I´d see as realistically available. I assume the Mavs will have zero interest in Holmes after the way they separated, so that leaves Shamet and Bagley III. I still believe Bagley will be a useful bench option on a contender one day. That´s his designated NBA role. Anyone know whether Nico baked apple pies for Bagley III, when he was in middle school. ![]()

Offensively he's a bit worse, but he's largely similar to Green in that he only takes wide open 3s and he spots up 95% of the time. Well THJ Maxi Green for Grant + Thybulle works as a framework. I'm not madd at it, it gives us more defensive versatility & length as well as a 3rd scorer. I wouldn't feel that way about some of the guys we've discussed, like Bogdanovic, for example, but Shamet just doesn't do anything for me, "buy low" or not. The whole point of a Shamet/THJ deal would be to generate extra shots for Green/Hardy and $5.2M in capspace. Everything that Shamet actually contributes on the court would just be a bonus.

Might just create a stickied thread for this and all the other rules we've explored in this thread.
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

I ruled him out because I don't think he fits the mold of what Kidd seems to demand of his forwards/bigs. I suppose the piece of information we don't have is this: We know Kidd didn't want Christian Wood, but who DID? Was it Harrison, or was it Cuban? If it was Harrison, Bagley might be on the table.

You guys like Avida more than Grant, I know he's younger, but I haven't followed much of Avida.

Are you saying that you assume Shamet would start BEHIND Hardy on the training camp depth chart? I'm not sure I see it that way, if so.

Does Washington have cap space? They are still so early in development that they may have trouble attracting talent at market value or want to invest in talent not in their far out planning.
I have lost most hope that Hardaway plus a first is going to get us anything really valuable this summer. Maybe it happens, I just don't expect it. Hardaway was not good this year. There are several shooting guards either on the market or available as well that is going to hurt any demand. I do think a team like Washington (if they have cap room) may have some interest moving a part that has little value (and a low contract) for an expiring with Hardaway. Maybe they can move him at the deadline. He at least fills up salary. It may not take more than a second round pick either. I don't know if the Shamet is real, but I could see dallas looking at lower cost players with teams with cap space who may not be interested in winning next year. There aren't many of those teams though.

THJ-Shamet makes sense if we want to stretch waive him. I’ve played around with that with other guys in that salary range like PJ tucker. It seems like the cheapest way to open up the most space

They could always stretch-waive Shamet. I think that would give enough room for the full NTMLE.
Not that I think it's a great option, just throwing it out there.

Could he fill the starting SF role? 26 years old. 6'8" 225lb. 15/4 guy who shot 38.5% from 3 on 5+ attempts per game. 40% from the corner each of the last 3 years. 37.4% ATB on 203 attempts this year. Owed 21M, 23M, 25M the next 3 seasons.

I really don't see Deni being available. I mean everyone is available...but. He fits their timeline and is viewed as one of their building pieces. I think it is much more likely guys like Kuzma is moved.
