GAME 3 NBA FINALS: Boston Celtics (2-0) vs. Dallas Mavericks (0-2)
Sweep incoming. This should motivate Luka to drop weight and become a quality defender. Mavs also need an offense next season.

Mavs look totally lost.

This was a pathetic way to go out. Looked worse than the Pacers without Haliburton against a Porzingis-less Boston. Completely clueless on both ends.

Great season for the Mavs, but this is a tough way to go out.

Truth is Celtics are just much better put together team than the Mavs

Celtics are put much better together than every single team in the NBA.

There is literally not a single team close to their depth and top end talent level. The trades they've pulled off the last 2 years and the value they are still reaping from the Nets trade have set them up for years.

Mavs are 1 proper bench scorer away from possibly being 2-1 up in this series. They've literally gotten nothing from anyone. Luka and Kyrie are a combined 51 of 70 points.

Maxi/Green/Hardy/THJ have put up 0 points on 0/6 shooting. Exum only 2 points. DJJ is a non factor.

Celtics are playing great. But every Mavs this series has a part of this.

Green is t even looking at the rim. Luka and Kyrie defense has been awful. All one on one offense.

No role players stepped up. Etc. there is a lot of blame. Celtics are great thiugb

The role players aren't ready for this stage

Not even sure what they should do. They cannot really impact the game on offense. Mavs don't have a system that creates open looks for them. Difference between the first three series and this one is that...

a) Celtics have a legit five out offense that can score against the Mavs defense. Something OKC and Minnesota couldn't do. Mavs could always play off one or two guys.
b) Luka and Kyrie aren't facing one or two good perimeter defenders. Basically an entire team of all-defense caliber perimeter defenders.

Kyrie did the Luka special falling asleep with his defender.

This is a wrap

Say what you want but, Irving is the worst defensive player in the league. By far

Both of your points are true.

But it also could be reasoned that if just 1 other guy could reliably score off the bench the Mavs would be more competitive. Just another threat.

Boston is a very good team. I don't think there's a single team in the NBA that could've beat them. But the Mavs had a chance if they didn't go ice cold.

They are shooting 40% for the game. Close to their regular season average. That's the sad part. Two bad shooting games from them at home and the Mavs couldn't take advantage. Especially in game two.

I don't blame the role players for this. We don't run an offense so they aren't getting regular touches because we are just playing iso ball with Luka and Kyrie. Our role players aren't one on one players so how are they supposed to score if Luka and Kyrie don't create opportunities for them? Also I'm sure their effort has gone down because they aren't touching the ball. That's normal human nature.
