Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein-Ingram Trade Inevitable| LAL Want Lebron Back On Any Terms

Be patient for who? You need a person... a target, not a generalization. That's too vague.

I've given you two people I think are significant upgrades. The Mavs need what they have. Give me something.

The FO's job is to upgrade the roster. This isn't rocket science. it's not about "backup centers" ... it's about rebounds. Someone capable of getting them when Lively isn't playing. Someone capable of defending the basket who can play 20-25 MPG.

Mavs - Bridges, Hayward, 2 SRP’s
CHA - THJ, Gwill, Maxi, ‘27 FRP

The Hornets are taking on a lot of salary and PHX can offer a decent package for Bridges so you have to pay to play. Giving up the FRP is painful but a Nico special this offseason was getting back second rounders in the process.

The move to clear space to resign Bridges is trading Holmes (expiring) at the draft/start of new year. That’s where the second round pick(s) come into play.

Luka - Exum - Curry
Irving - Hardy
Hayward - Green
Bridges - DJJ - Omax - Morris
Lively - Powell - Holmes

You are really really stuck on this guy.

If we give up first round picks for a guy who strangled his girlfriend, broke her nose and ribs in front of their kids and then followed that up by throwing billiards balls at her car while their kids were in it, I will never follow this team again.

Also, you realize PHX has NOTHING to offer at this point, right?

“In those calculations I assumed they keep Curry. If he is waived, they save a bit more, but are still only $12.54M under the cap”

I
Using Fgumps’s numbers with Holmes, THJ, Gwill gone and accounting for $1M less in the cap next year plus adding Maxi (11M) outgoing. I think it gets you to 22.54M in cap space.

A Kyrie for Lauri+Sexton gets another $4M :)

Well the Mavs are rumored to be interested in Bridges. This is a Mavs trade thread. On a Mavs fans forum. You can simply ignore the post.

Bridges broke his girlfriend's nose, broke her wrist and ruptured her eardrum.  He choked her until she was unconscious.  Certainly this isn't someone we want on the Mavericks.

It's pathetic that the NBA and the Charlotte Hornets are allowing that piece of shit to play.  I don't think very highly of Mark Cuban but I hope he is above this.

I understand he has talent but there are lines that should not be crossed.  If he gets hit by a train, the world will be a better place.

Well I can keep talking about Kuzma but we’ve beaten that topic worse than others have beaten their significant others.

He did all of those things for no reason because he is evil?

Seems like he would be in jail and the Commish would not allow him back if so.

There are two sides to every story...this board is only giving one side and wants to not talk about the other side of things out of convenience.    Some times the other side needs to be checked....its what Israel just did to whomever was poking at them...Israel had enough and checked them.   We dont know what evil things his girlfriend were doing.   He could have been the nicest guy in the world to her and she kept pushing emotional buttons cruelly for no reason as he provided a nice lifestyle for her...he snapped at all the BS instead of walking away...all his fault and she gets no blame.   Sounds like gas-lighting to me.   Im going to punch you in the face, claim I didnt do it and then call you a baby for whining about getting punched in the face.   Sounds like a Psychology trap and they instigator doesnt want to talk about being held accountable.

I want both sides of the story...and want to know who the true instigator was.   If she was evil....maybe getting f'd up grounded her a bit.   But I get it...posters are going to run to the instigators defense and try and claim that an instigator should be allowed to do whatever they want in society as long as they dont get physical.    The instigator should be allowed to emotionally torture every boyfriend she has....its his fault he stayed with her.

Whats the full story here and who was the instigator?

I don’t think getting him a few $M more to resign him using Powell or something over a team like Det is going to be the problem. A desperate Phi team would be the problem.

You have authority that Bridges wil forego Bird rights to accept a trade to Dallas?

Your thesis is that she may have done something to provoke him beating her repeatedly and choking her until she was unconscious?

"maybe getting f'ed up grounded her a bit"

Your mentality is disturbing.  I hope there are no women in your life.  You might fit in well in prison.

I'd be curious how you all stack rank the purported F options along with pros & cons of each. I'm assuming THJ will be outgoing, so someone is going to need to replace his scoring. THJ has also been pretty durable. That matters given how many games Kyrie misses. I'll probably try to look up some advanced analytics on these guys, but I haven't compared them yet, so if anyone wants to do that, be my guest :-) This is all just eye test / gut.

Miles Bridges: Brings physicality, scoring, rebounding, defense. Was the leading scorer and rebounder on CHA two years ago. Has a little Jimmy Butler in him. 36% from three. 6' 7" 225 lbs, 25 years old.

Jerami Grant: A slasher, scorer who gets to the foul line. 40% 3pt shooter on mid volume. Switchable defender with good length. Not a rebounder. 6' 7" 210 lbs, 29 years old.

PJ Washington: Good kid, good teammate, plays the right way. Versatile defender. Low volume shooter. Might not replace THJ's scoring output, shoots 34% from three. 6' 7" 230 lbs, 25 years old.

Andrew Wiggins: Can score, rebound, handle, slash, and defend. Has been a 39% 3pt shooter, but his confidence and shot are off. 6' 7" 200 lbs, 28 years old.

Kyle Kuzma: Confident scorer on poor efficiency. Can defend and handle. Might the best rebounder and playmaker among the options. 6' 10" 220 lbs, 28 years old.

My preference is PJ Washington. His cost shouldn’t be anywhere near Kuzma’s. The on-court downside is less than that of Wiggins and Kuzma and the Mavs hold on to their future (Luka/Green/Omax/Lively).

I think you’ve done well with your descriptions of each. All of them come with a big asterisk of “cost” to acquire.

In order from best overall acquisition to worst with everything taken into account is:

PJ Washington
Bridges

BIG GAP

Kuzma/Wiggins

I don’t think Grant is a real possibility at the TDL

Your mentality is disturbing.  I hope there are no women in your life.  You might fit in well in prison.

Apparently individuals arent allowed to be disturbing but Governments are.  Join a Government gang and you can be disturbing and no one will call you out on it.   But be an individual and you cant be.

This is the same argument that got me banned last time.   Im trying to be reasonable and find out who the instigator is...and why would you push someones buttons if they may snap on you unless thats what you want so you can ruin their life.

What was really going on is what the question should be...not...he snapped, his fault, send him to purgatory.   But the internet doesnt want o be reasonable.  Interesting isnt it.   Interesting that if you join a Governement gang and go invade another country it is ok and everyone calls you a hero and no one speaks of the evil that took place.   Interesting isnt it?

I get banned again for being reasonable.   And no one on here is allowed to tell me Im right.   No one is allowed to speak against the true instigator.   Makes sense.

Anyway...I stand by my comment that if due diligence is done and many many close to Miles and past girlfriends say he was not violent or aggressive in any manor with them....then I categorize it as a very bad relationship that ended badly due to emotions and someone snapping.   He was out of the league for a year with no pay I assume and the courts ruled he received adequate punishment, I assume?   Or did he get off easy because he is rich?  I dont know.

If its a one off...Im giving him a second chance...assuming stringent due diligence was involved.

I dont know about acquisition costs...

But I am starting to get on the Kuzma train even though I know nothing about his game.

Im reading many comments on here and RealGM that suggest the guy has skills....as in bball skills....not major flaws like our guys seem to have.

Hes got the size our team needs too.

PJ Washington might be cheap, might hit the 3 from open Luka looks...but Im tired of having average players with flaws.   PJ is like John Collins....never ever jumps off the screen when I watch.   You can usually tell when Kuzma is playing.

Im about done with Luka fit players and trying to find them.   Give me guys with bball skills and size.  Kuzma meets that criteria.   Im not passing on Kuzma for Washington unless the cost is way way way cheaper...and I dont know if it really is.    Even if it is...im not choosing Washington because he has size and can hit a 3 which works for Luka.

Forget Luka fit guys....get guys with bball skills in here.

My order:
1. Grant, by far. Doesn't bring rebounding,  but everything else is way above anything we have. No number three guy will be perfect.
2. Wiggins, if he doesn't cost assets and if he can be paired with a PF in the summer (lets say Grant)
3. I don't have an opinion about Kuzma. Worried about his defense, but is far better positional fit than THJ providing similar offensive threat
4. PJ - not interested, because I think he will cost the pick. I don't see why Charlotte would trade him for our bad contracts and meh youngsters. He is like a fourth or fifth option on one of the worst teams in the league, so I am far from convinced he can become number three option Mavs need. I don't want them to spend 2027 on a player that is not a solution.
5. Bridges. I don't see a feasible way for Mavs to resign him. Even if Mavs dump all those players to clear cap space, they will have to replace them. That would be many vet min guys and nothing more.

Did Wiggins get hurt? Otherwise he did his best Grant Williams impression in an overtime game where the warriors scored 134. Wiggins played 19 minutes and shot 1-6 and had 2 points. It was against that stingy Hawks defense though.

He got hurt in the second quarter and didn’t return.

Steve Kerr termed the Andrew Wiggins injury as a "sprained foot" not ankle. That's what Rick Celebrini told him. X-rays negative.
