The question is who is that player and do they really need to make a move with how their youngsters are growing together?
His highest and best use is probably at the TDL sending him to a 2nd apron team that doesn't want to be a 2nd apron team next year. He can bring back a $24.5mm player and next season the team that trades for Bertans is only responsible for $5.25mm. OKC can't use all of those picks anyway, so think in terms of Bertans and picks for someone like Wiggins maybe?

Green may be out a couple of weeks. Did he hurt his elbow and miss time last year too?

Yeah, I mean...no worries bringing it back up or anything. I'll probably never get tired of talking about it. I was just wondering if there was anything new that I missed. That story has actually been in writing a dozen times, give or take. The last time I remember reading about it was when Nelson sued Cuban over that weird touching scandal involving his nephew.

Thanks for posting. I think the most interesting thing KP said was that he didn't get analytics back then, and if someone had explained to him the right way (whatever that means) he might have had a better understanding of what he was being asked to do vs what he wanted to do. A fully engaged KP who wasn't sulking because he wasn't getting the touches he wanted would have been a different animal.

If this means more games with Exum in the starting lineup, he can take his time coming back.

Reddick seems like a really awesome guy and it is too bad he is not around in some capacity. I know he wants to be on East coast anyway. I liked the interview a lot. It shows how difficult it is too build the right chemistry and it is not really something you can blame anyone for.

I would like to think Green is more valued than Exum. At least that's the perception.

I actually like him off the bench. But he has earned minutes. I think he is an excellent version coming off the bench. He increases the pace and and is aggressive attacking the rim. His outside shot has been spotty and I think this would stand out if he started the games with Luka and Kyrie.
I was thinking last night that while they are different players and skill sets, I wonder if we could capture the Luka, Brunson, Dinwiddie magic with Luka, Kyrie and Exum. Exum is different from Dinwiddie but at least size wise he can bring that to the table. Having two guys who can create on the floor at all times seems to really help this offense. Especially if most of the other players are a a little limited in this.

I like the comparison. He obviously can't score like Din, but his defense is off the charts better. He definitely needs more minutes which will come from Timmy/Hardy. Or maybe they will come from Green, who has been really disappointing this year, particularly on defense.

He was, but right now Exum is outplaying him. He is going to miss at least 2 weeks, which will probably solidify Exum's minutes. Hopefully being out two weeks will help him reset, especially his defense.

Obviously a crappy opponent to try to assess anything but having Green and Williams minutes replaced with Exum and OMax certainly made us look a lot bigger out there which I think really helped out defense and rebounding.
Unfortunately neither of them can shoot nearly well enough to be in a playoff rotation still.

Keep rolling with the Exum and DJJ starting lineup as long as possible! I think it's their best option with this roster. The offense doesn't become so predictable (and easy to defend) compared to having GW and Green out there. It's just a better brand of basketball knowing that you're not going to have 2 stationary players camp out in the corners for the entire possession. I've been begging for a 3-PG lineup for over a year now since they never replaced it when Brunson left. Exum is obviously not on that level but still the closest thing on this roster in terms of skillset.

What two fabulous minimum salaries. Exum is also tied up for another year too. When you have limited draft assets and high salaried stars it can do wonders when you hit on minimum veterans and second round/undrafted guys. Just to fill in those 15 or so minutes.
Hopefully Exum can stay healthy and Jones does not have a prolonged shooting slump as the year goes on.

Playoff defenses certainly disagree with this statement. Two non shooters (fingers crossed DJJ can knock them down when it matters and this isn't a mirage but he hasn't proved it in meaningful basketball games yet) vs two shooters is also going to be easier to defend no matter how you slice it. I would argue that where you really see improvement with DJJ/Exum over GW/Green is on the defensive end but it needs to be a HUGE improvement on defense to justify playing two non shooters (3 with Lively) in the starting lineup.
Just keep in mind those guys are camped out in the corners for a reason...

Although it was an awesome performance by the Mavericks, I don't think the starting lineup will change based upon this one game.
Substituting Exum for Grant Williams in the starting lineup makes us even smaller. It also kills our spacing. I think Exum works bell as the third ball handler behind Luka and Kyrie. He has been a good find and I think is a useful rotation player. He isn't a starter though.
It's nice to have a guy who's 6'5 on the bench though who plays defense, run the offense and pressures the rim.
