If he did then we should rest him for the year because if those don't heal right his entire career could be in jeopardy. I'm a little distraught right now. I'm hoping for the best. Rewatching the video where Luka went down we can see him grab his high ankle. That's more than just concerning. A high ankle sprain is as bad as it gets. It can take up to 3 months to heal from that.

So the turn was low, why would it be a high ankle sprain? Dirk did turns just as bad all the time and it usually was a couple of games but granted Luka uses his wheels more than Dirk did.

Luka Doncic has left the arena and will not talk to the media tonight. Rick Carlisle said Doncic was able to put weight on his right leg.

X Rays negative are good. I've taken a bad ankle sprain myself before playing basketball and watching that one reminded me of it. It can keep you out for weeks and you do need to rehab it properly but with nothing broken it's no big deal overall

moderate. Okay.
So basically at least 4 weeks.

If we would go 6-11 we would be 23-19, 7th or 8th in the West. Considering Luka is out and the hard stretch coming up I think this is the worst case scenario, but the way team played yesterday we may do better than this prediction.

So, basically, 1) great opportunity to showcase our bevy of trade assets, or to turn non-trade assets into something attractive. 2) improve our draft pick and its tradeability, which makes a THJ/first trade package a lot juicier. 3) improve our players such as Brunson so they learn how to help us more than they hurt us and play right. 4) perhaps see some Josh Reaves. all while still making the playoffs and not disillusioning a single NBA FA about Luka's present and future greatness. Not bad, over all, as long as he doesn't miss more than a month.

Everyone responds differently. Dirk was an absolute freak when it came to this. The man was elastic.
Who knows how Luka's wheels with take. He could be ready in a week. Or weeks. Then again, it's something that won't fully heal and nag him the rest of the season if he doesn't shut it down for a while. Re aggravation can be a bitch.

Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...
January 2011:
Dirk goes down with an injury. The team goes 2-7 over 9 games when he's out. They also get a chance to figure out how to play without him and are reminded of his importance. As long as the injury doesn't linger and have some long term impact this could be a blessing in disguise. KP will be forced to carry the team. JB will get more experience. Seth and THJ will need to step up. As long as Luka is still Luka when he comes back.... |
