If the Mavs are far enough under the apron to use the full MLE, the whole world changes. They are also able to consider big money free agents via SNT. And they would have a sizable TPE in pocket, too, created by whatever transaction got them such a huge payroll reduction -- or they could use the TPE immediately by rolling it into the same deal.
For example, using the idea of THJ to DET, and rolling that into the Brunson transaction--- if you tied a SNT into that deal, you can sign someone making almost 25M in 1st year salary. The world changes.
