Great breakdown. It really highlights how the Mavs had to mix different coverages in order to keep Phoenix off balance. So much more than the "switch everything" over-simplification that you hear a lot. Side note: No digging through my post history  Big Grin

God King has spoken.  Someone tell Curry to get his early vacation plans in  order.

Also don't know why we are talking about Bertans in regards to center minutes.  The number of guys I would rather getting center minutes than Bertans is probably double the Powell number.

Yes and I would dismiss at least 20 of this list as really bad fit for what WE do.

I might add WCJ to my initial list.

Bertans is here and we have to pay him, don't want to invest much for little improvement.

You had like 5 guys in your list which included Bam and Jokic (who does not really fit our defensive model).  If I just go down the teams and list the players I would rather have playing the 5 for us given how we like to play defense:

Atlanta - John Collins (a large upgrade across the board)
Atlanta - Capela (nearly as mobile, much better rebounder and rim protector)
Atlanta - Okongwu (a perfect fit and already better at 21)
Boston - Al Horford (Would have loved to trade KP for him in offseason)
Boston - Robert Williams (the elite version of Powell)
Brooklyn - Kevin Durant (Would actually be perfect at center in playoffs)
Charlotte - PJ Washington (the Maxi clone.  Already better than Powell and young)
Cleveland - Jarrett Allen (another elite Powell)
Cleveland - Mobley (already better than Powell as a rookie)
Indiana - Myles Turner (no brainer)
Miami - Bam (on your list)
Milwaukee - Giannis (same as Durant, would be perfect center in playoffs)
New York - Mitchel Robinson (a better younger Powell)
New York - Obi Toppin (A little undersized but as good a rebounder and rim protector and better offensive player, and young)
Orlando - Wendell Carter (you just added him to your list of 6)
Orlando - Isaac (the injury history is scary, but he would be perfect fit)
Philly - Embiid (no question)
Toronto - Siakam (would be a perfect playoff center)
Toronto - Achiuwa (Already a better defensive center, the offense is coming along and very young)
Washington - KP (just kidding)

That is 19 guys in half the league (I got some work I need to do, but I can add the second half later if you care).  This list are the obvious upgrades and does not include guys like Jalen Smith, Boucher or Gafford (who we should have included in trade) who would make a ton of sense regardless due to our depth issues.

I know some of these guys are exciting to think about adding to the DAL roster, but I think you're going to want someone who meshes well with Luka, not another KP-type co-star.

I know we look at current NBA players for filling these roles, but are there any non-NBA players that might fit? I was thinking about how well Mike Tobey worked with Luka last summer and was wondering if there are any offshore candidates DAL could acquire.

I confess to not knowing who the dominant players are and whether they would be available, contract-wise, or even desireable. My impression is that Donnie was a conduit to players outside the US, but maybe that is an overstatement.

I wonder if Boban is back next year?   Kidd has no use to him.   I wonder if he would prefer somewhere else or play back in Europe?   I am sure Luka wants him back, but I wonder if something happens this offseason.

I also wonder if Coach Sweeney gets a shot this offseason.  He is the coach who always appears to be in Kidd's ear.   He may be a year early, but I expect he is going to get a head coaching gig soon.

I saw that tweet and knew you’d love it!

I do too.  I was really impressed with Kidd this year and I think he has a long term plan for this team as a whole and for Luka individually.  People sometimes forget the role Kidd had in developing Giannis into what he is today.

That's what I'm talking about. You youngfellows got a taste of what it's like being there. Now you get to learn how to win it.
We didn't make the cut but thanks for all the support!
