Buddy had a great season in 18-19 when he was the guy.  Things went downhill with the emergence of Fox and Luka Walton being the coach.  Less of a focal point in the offense and less catch and shoot opportunities.  He seems like a perfect candidate for needing a change of scenery and unfortunately for him, he landed with Carlisle which I think will be a disaster.  A Kidd pairing would be preferable as would a defined and consistent role.  He's bad on defense as everyone has mentioned so I wouldn't expect anything different.  The nod I would give to THJ is effort.  The question I'd have is who is better at creating their own shot, THJ or Buddy?  

I'm not going to be bothered either way and we'll probably get outbid by the Lakers.  I don't want to give up a FRP for the experiment.  The Lakers trading for him would be funny because of his defensive weakness.

Green is a great athlete.  He's got good vision and passing ability.  He's a bad shooter and is way too timid.  He can use his athleticism to stay in front of guys but he doesn't seem to stop players from getting to were they want to go or bother their shots.  He's too much of a liability on the offensive end to use in a playoff rotation.

I don't disagree with this right now, but the fact that a 21 year old with one offseason to his credit is not ready for a playoff rotation does not mean he wont be in a year or two.  I'm not ready to relegate him to second round pick status just yet.

Not really.  THJ sucks at defense but gives effort.  Buddy's effort on defense is questionable.

I LOVE that deal. Mostly because I love Davion Mitchell. Harris is in the same mold of THJ as they are going to shoot their shots and his contract is unpalatable but honestly it's not too bad.

We'd basically be paying THJ's 4 years over the next two. Also the reuniting of Bobi+Tobi can only be good for locker room chemistry. 

I will say I don't know how realistic the deal is given now Woj reporting the Kings are dropping out of the Ben Simmons sweepstakes.

Thank you! Like all of us, life has just been different the last, few years. I am going to make a sincere effort to get back into the mix with y'all now. Warms my heart to know all my Mavs peeps are still out here doing their thing!

Or they will prevent the Mavs from making a mistake. We rightfully complained about the Mavs front office but it could have been worse. Without the intervention from even worse GMs the Mavs would have guys like Kemba or Whiteside on max deals.

Give Jason Garrett Jr. credit for given Green minutes and give Green respect for taking advantage of those minutes.  I'm not saying he can't develop into something but it was a bad pick and I'm not going to lose sleep if he is traded.  I don't think Indiana would want Josh anyway.  I don't he's shown enough to have trade value and Carlisle is pretty hot and cold when it comes to the players he wants to develop.

Buddy is the better, pure shooter and would likely embrace his role as the designated sniper for the second unit in DAL. It's difficult to make personal sacrifices when you're playing for a dumpster fire of an organization. Here, with the culture and aiming for a Top 4 seed for your hometown team? I don't see the issue. Plus, even if it were a wash, getting off the last, two years of THJ is significant for us. Hield could have real value if he shines here. One of the biggest things hamstringing us in deals right now is the lack of a sizeable expiring. He would represent an upgrade that helps to upgrade further, down the road, as we churn our roster and get our draft pick flexibility back.

Trading for PJ Washington would get me excited at this point, but tbh I doubt we even have the ammunition to pull that one off.

I would not get your hopes up.  The time to be aggressive was this offseason.  They will have another shot maybe starting this offseason again.  I don't see a route to really make a big move now.   Plus, I am typically against big moves at the trade deadline anyway.  I am all for being opportunistic though.

My baseline for a good trade deadline is Dragic plus using the TPE.   The TPE fit doesn't need to be perfect.   Ideally it would be a bigger guy who can help out and also be insurance in case of an injury.   

If it is just Dragic or the TPE, I would be fine.   If nothing happens on either front and nothing is brought in, I will label it a disappointment.

Getting rid of KP would be the TDL dream for me.  

I'd say odds are 75% we do nothing.  20% we use the TPE.  5% something else.

I think we should prepare for this option. I'm starting to think NOTHING will happen. Maybe not even the TPE.

I consider 11 mil for a player that does not belong on the court a terrible contract (and its not expiring).  He would literally make our team worse unless he never played a minute.  That is how bad he has been.  I would rather hold on to THJ and pay the tax.  If this is the kind of move we make, I will be horribly disappointed.

He probably wouldn't play a minute and I never said it was expiring.  Anything that moves Hardaway in the next two days would not be done for basketball reasons.

I would also probably just pay the tax and look for better ways to move THJ but it's not our money to make that decision with.
