It's not been pretty, but I will take it.
Really hard to tell where the Mavs stand. Record looks solid but they rank 23th in point differential (for example behind the frequently mentioned Pacers). Only possible conclusion right now. We need a bigger sample size.

Of course. Point differential can point to important realities that are brewing below the surface......YET at the end of the day the NBA only deems win-loss record as meaningful. So I still take 4-2 all day, every day.
My biggest concern isn't the team's point differential sucking, it is Luka as the team worst -27.4 (-1.3 on O, -26.1 on D). If Luka doesn't turn that around the Mavs are screwed. If Luka does, then the whole team differential will look a LOT better.

Unfortunately, I would be very surprised if the Mavs won any of the next three games (the hated Spurs on a SEGABABA), so that point differential is likely to get worse in the short term.

The point differential is bad because both of our losses to date were terrible blowouts. Having two blowouts against playoff teams is certainly concerning, and if it continues to happen we won't need point differential to know there's a major problem. But also sometimes blowouts just happen, especially early in the season, and over 82 games they get smoothed out of the point differential (remember our first game against the Clippers last year?).
As you approach the play-offs, I agree with the poster who first brought this up that point differential is more telling (and predictive) than straight win-loss record. But this early in the season, I actually think its the opposite. Point differential is *way* too noisy to tell us much. (I mean, Miami has the best point differential in the league right now, and it's not even close. By point differential, they are twice as good as any team other than Utah. I believe Miami is a playoff team and maybe even a contender, but I don't buy they are the '95 Bulls--which is what point differential is basically saying right now).

Based on this, the starting lineup should be Luka-Maxi-Frankie-Boban-(one of Burke, Omoruyi, M.Brown, WCS,THJ, Brunson). And, until they prove they deserve time, the rest of the cast should not be playing meaningful minutes.
I really do think that Boban should be starting. I know he can't really play starter minutes, but he should be on the floor when the game starts. It will discombobulate the other team.
As far as the 5th starter is concerned, it should of course be match-up dependent. But, I prefer THJ or Omoruyi.
If Maxi is out with injury, then WCS should replace him. M.Brown should get minutes, but he still is a long way from being familiar enough with the team defense/offense to be a starter (IMHO).

Speaking of Harp, where has he been so far this season? I'm not complaining, because I'm not a big fan of Harp the broadcaster, but is there anything I should be concerned about regarding Harp the person?

Mavs announcement on Sep 24 stated that he would be returning alongside Followill this season.

He started out calling the games with MF, but in the past two or three games, Followill has introduced himself and Skin followed by the cryptic statement, "Harp is not with us tonight."

It was just a joke, TT went missing-in-action a number of times with no explanation. Now Harp. Just a joke.
