Shot at Donnie? I always rolled my eyes where there were some reports that Donnie found Luka. I thought that was a major stretch. Regardless though, he (or someone else on the Mavs) found a way to move up for him and for that the winner gets the spoils. Drafting Luka will always be high on the Donnie resume successes. And he deserves that credit.

Bob's contract ends and he immediately starts firing shots. Might have been best to not let him out of his contract!

This is a super fascinating piece of information. Could he be lying? Sure, to save face with his ego. But wonder if this is true? It would seem to mean that Cuban valued his info/data so much that he didn't care about the other stuff. And Haralabob was probably locked away at a certain point anyway, not allowed around the team.
He's 100000% lying.
Dude is trying to frame this as "I broke up with her, she didn't break up with me"
Odds are he tried to ask for a lump sum buyout and Cuban refused and just decided to let his contract expire. In any case I don't really care what Bobby has to say anymore. He's gone. Good riddance. Hope the Mavs never make a mistake like him again.

Luka in an interview said he knew Donnie for years before the Mavs drafted him...

It looks like hiring Kidd may already be paying big dividends with the players.
"I'll say this: at the end of last year Porzingis wanted to be traded," said Tim MacMahon on The Hoop Collective Podcast. "My understanding is he feels like he has a fresh start with the coaching change."

If the Mavs were going to use KP like how they used him against the Clips full time, then the Mavs should have traded KP.
Glad to see that Kidd is making him buy in a bit and changing his mind.

"At the end of last year, he wasn't going to come out and ask for a trade. He's smart enough to understand the optics."
"He's already done that once," replied Brian Windhorst.
You mean when doing something like that actually got him traded?????
So they don't have a statement from KP but can glean in their slow news wisdom a claim that KP will likely never confirm or deny.
I can't decide if this is a leaked narrative that is meant to praise the new MBT (Cuban) because they made changes to keep KP happy or just MacMahon speculating on common knowledge (standing in the corner) that makes him look like an insider for a podcast. If Tim knew this at the end of the season, he would/should have reported it then.
Seems to me everyone is getting a fresh start, not just KP.

Sounds good KP. We want you to have a fresh start. But if your mobility and defense are broken forever, we'll want to trade you but won't be able to.

I have enormous respect for Carlisle. Last year was just weird though. The cohesion of the team just seemed off and for the first time I thought he didn't make the whole better than the parts. In almost every other year, I thought he made the team better than it should have been. Yeah, he didn't win a playoff series since the championship run, but I don't put that on him at all.
The KP situation was really odd too. Sure, KP made things harder because he was not the same player last year. I felt like the team talked like KP was Luka's sidekick off the court, but on the court it never seemed like they treated him like this.
I believe Luka needs to treat KP different than DFS and the others. Luka will do his thing and will mostly make the right pass to the open guy. I can understand KP's frustration playing this way while a guy like DFS is fine with it. On the other hand, KP needs to prove to Luka that he is what he sees himself being. I can understand Luka wanting to see this from KP before you get more special treatment from him. I am really interested to see how things look this year. I expect some bumps.
Personally, I really wanted to protect us from KP injury with another scorer this offseason. I believe KP can be a better fit here, but I didn't want to be as tied to him as we are now.

Where is the part regarding Carlisle in those quotes?
