MAVS NEWS:

I heard on a podcast that it was after, but he wouldn’t field questions and talk about him because the trade isn’t accepted by the league yet, so it’s still unofficial.

Sergio de Larrea will be playing in the Liga ACB Finals today at 2PM EST against Barcelona.

Will also be interested to see if he flys to Vegas next week for NBA Summer League.

Morez Johnson Jr. will wear No. 14 for the Dallas Mavericks, last worn by former two-way guard Miles Kelly last season.

NBA is a completely different game from college but seeing how May got production from big man, maybe holding onto them may be their best for value. The three in the championship team. Danny Wolfe and Goldin.
I believe all 5 were transfers and they got better quickly.

Cooper Flagg on if he wants to stay with one team his whole career:

“100%. I would like nothing more than that. You look at someone like Dirk, his legacy, there’s nothing that touches that. To be that loved by a city… I don’t think you can dream of anything else.”

“I’m most excited about walking on the court with our team. I think our fans are going to be proud of how hard they play, how well they play together, and just proud of what we have working.”

“I think they’re going to be excited to watch our team play. We’re gonna play an exciting brand of basketball, we’re going to be well connected. It’s gonna be fun, it’s going to be a great year.”

Well I don´t know whether the Mavs will be good at basketball, but all the new people in charge will certainly pull you in and make you believe you are watching the 1996 Bulls 2011 Mavs.

It will be interesting who he brings in as assistant. He will need some experience. He doesn’t seem winded tightly like some college coaches who thinks it is the end of the world if you lose 3 games.

This franchise is too lucky at times.

Love Coop.

just finished talking with mike schmitz in the post draft presser. main takeaway isn’t a surprise.

mavs really value positional size.

I'm a big believer in the idea that some coaches have more skill and figure out how to win, and the W/L results over multiple years will show it if you look. May has been one of those guys - absurd results. I think he will be incredibly good.

I think this is the biggest takeaway from the last couple of days. This is no accident, and to me, it makes perfect sense. It's the latest step in the ongoing evolution of players becoming more and more skilled.

We now have centers who play like guards, which means you need to be able to defend every player on the floor. And the best way to do that is by switching everything.
Players like Coop are the prototype for this kind of player. Imagine having five of them on the court at all times, guys who can do everything AND DEFEND everything.
I think this is what the NBA will look like in a few years. If everyone can do everything offensively, then size and versatility become the ultimate tiebreakers between good and great.

It will take a Steph Curry level revolution to disrupt this next stage of evolution. Until then, Masai's vision will dominate the league.

I can see it. I like it.

The Dallas Mavericks are still mapping out when Spanish guard Sergio De Larrea will join the roster, general manager Mike Schmitz said, leaving open whether the 20-year-old reports for the 2026-27 season or remains overseas a year longer. Dallas acquired De Larrea’s draft rights in a draft-night trade with the New York Knicks, who selected him at No. 25 before routing the pick to the Mavericks. He is widely projected as a draft-and-stash prospect expected to stay with Valencia in the near term. Asked whether De Larrea would suit up for Dallas next season and play in Summer League, Schmitz declined to set a timeline. “We’re still working through all of that with Sergio,” Schmitz said. “Whether it’s next year or the following year, just to have that level of size and IQ in our program is huge for us.”
