AROUND the NBA:

I agree,  but then again I don't get why would Atlanta would do it. Trae + Pelicans pick will export our roster dysfunction to them, while they also overpay for AD, it is a mini-Luka trade from their perspective (they give more valuable pick, but vastly inferior player).

But a 3 team trade that will land us Pelicans pick and some return for Trae would be A+ trade for me

There is a 0% chance that Pelicans pick gets dealt for someone like AD.

Depressing for Kings fan. How much was Schroeder signed for this year? Schroeder has had one of the oddest careers.

Steph going off for 49 pts and 9 3's in a tightly contested game vs the Spurs 109-108 with 6.4 seconds to go. He had 46 pts in a 125-120 win over the Spurs Wednesday night. Steph is ridiculous..

They should be firing the GM for giving away that pick.

New Orleans has two habitually bad teams, the Pelicans and the Saints. Which one turns it around first?

While I totally agree, they should even go a step higher and start with ownership. I don't know why anyone would even think that Dumars/Weaver are a good combination based on their track record. Weaver was a total disaster in Detroit. Giving up that pick was on a Luka trade level stupid.

Uh the Saints were pretty consistently good and won a SuperBowl from 2000-up until last season.

Wemby out for a few weeks with a calf strain per Shams.   Seems to be popping up a lot recently.

DJJ is out at least 6 weeks with MCL Sprain

Los Angeles Clippers forward Derrick Jones Jr. sustained a sprained MCL in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in six weeks, sources tell ESPN. Jones was averaging a career high 10.9 points per game prior to the injury Sunday in Boston.

According to Shams, Wemby has a left calf strain and is
expected to be out a few weeks.

Joe Dumars was asked if there was a level of
concern about the Pelicans, LOL

Tough blow for Spurs. I don't think they can stay competitive without Wemby, so they might fall in the standings a bit.

As tough as West is, the race for a play-in spot is still wide open. 10th place is currently surprisingly held by Utah, who only have one more win than three other teams. Clippers are surprisingly bad at the start of the season and they still have Kawhi "under the table" situation threatening. However, I see them as a team most likely to turn it around at some point. Phoenix is also surprisingly good at the season start, I would expect them to drop in the standings a bit.

I think the fight for 6 playoff spots will be between the current top 7 teams (OKC is imho a lock for first place, Denver, Houston, LAL, SA, Minny and GSW will battle it for remaining five spots), unless injuries derail one of them. Portland has a nice story going on, but I believe they have limitations on offense that will keep them a notch below. Memphis does have talent but they are obviously a mess and it doesn't look it will get sorted out.

Sacramento and Pels are just ultimate sad stories. Zero incentive for Pels to be tanking but it might still be smart to sell off some of their vets, because they suck anyway. I would assume their FO will be hoping they can turn it around once Murray and Poole return, but I am far from optimistic that is possible. I don't think Zion can ever stay healthy for a longer period of time. It looks like Sacramento will just blow it up rather sooner than later. Bunch of overpaid second or third options that don't play defense, so not sure if they can even get anything valuable for any of them. That team has no future and situation can't be imho solved by swapping a piece or two. Sabonis is not a number one guy on a contender and very difficult to build around on any team due to his limited defense. LaVine is still greatly overpaid and he doesn't look even like a secondary scorer on a good team. Monk and DeRozan are likely 6th men on a good team at this stage. It is beyond me how someone can construct a team of such ill-fitting pieces. They even overpaid Murray. I would keep him and trade everything else for anything of value and expiring contracts. Tank hard, hope for top pick and start from scratch (again). Do it right this time. Accumulate young talent, add some culture setting vets that will make them play defense.

They new play in system is exactly thought to avoid tanking and let dream more teams but a play-in team is basically a no hope one.

I prefer to not play a first round against OKC. It would be a massacre.

I hate to hear this.  But he's played more without injury than I expected.  I think injuries will plague him throughout his career.  Too bad, because he is a generational phenom.
