NBA Summer League Jul 12-22: Hawks Druisic Breaks Foot

Big summer for Omax. Usually the guys with the most promise go in and own the summer league in year 2. It’s time and we need it now that we dumped our two best athletes

7 of those 15 guys are 6'8 or bigger. Really large team.

Omax and Ajinca need to get 30mpg just to get in reps. Everyone else doesn't really matter.

Rarely see 3&D types put up big numbers in summer league. Not sure how they are going to use OMax. In the past they did some weird stuff and ran the offense through Nate Hinton or Justin Anderson. Don't think you are doing OMax a favor if you ask him to play a similar role.
Last year it was all out iso ball from the scoring guards. With little to no touches for wings and bigs.
Maybe they will try Lawson in an on ball role. As of now he still has his roster spot. Could be his opportunity to keep/earn it.

I think Emanuel Miller is the most interesting "new" guy. Some mock drafts/big boards had him as a potential 2nd round pick. 3&D startet kit. Can defend at least 2-4. 6'6 with a big frame.
Can never have enough big wings. In my opinion a better gamble than another undersized scoring guard or a dinosaur big.

Watching the first summer league game right now Kings vs. Lakers. Bronny doesn't look great. But neither does Knecht

Bronny's line from his first Summer League game:

4 PTS
2 REB
2 AST
1 STL
2/9 FG
0/3 3PT
0/2 FT
-15 +/-

I know it's just one SL game, but...woof.

As a TCU fan, nothing but love for Eman.  He started his career as a center for A&M before transferring to TCU to try and develop as a wing.

He worked hard to add 3 point range to his game and made huge strides there.  Also a solid rebounder with his big man background.

The lazy comparison for me is fellow Frog Kenny Hustle…Kenrich Williams.  Eman would need to level up defensively, but that’s the type of role he could carve out if he can maintain the consistency he showed with the 3 ball late in his college career and just be a high energy dude at the end of a roster.

Yeah, Miller will be one of the four l'll be watching closely along with OMax, Ajinca and Sharp.
Miller seems he could carve out a "garbage man" type role for himself with his build, energy and knack to always be around the ball.

Jared Dudley says one of the things he’s challenging O-Max Prosper to do is to guard the best perimeter player on the other team every game.

He says the goal for him is to get him ready to potentially play rotation minutes next season.

I am glad they are challenging him and making it bigger than just look good in summer league.

IMO, I think his role (if he can reach that stage) is very similar to DJJ.   Guard the best perimeter player.  I think he will be better at this than the big, physical guys, but that is my opinion.    He won't be the sky walker DJJ is but is probably be more skilled.  The minutes at 3 and 4 are really tight, but I hope they allow some minutes to grow and see how he responds.

Much better than asking him to create for himself and/or others. Make it about the skills that will earn him minutes in the NBA. Not just big numbers against lesser competition.

“That’s what I want. That’s what I want. The toughest challenges. To be put in the toughest situations.”

O-Max Prosper on the challenge from Coach Dudley to guard the opponent’s best perimeter player.

Question: @NickVanExit #Mavs #MFFL

Do y'all selves a favor and watch this video and try not to fall in love with OMax again!

I had a lot of doubts when it comes to Edey's ability to play in the NBA but right now he is going up against Walker Kessler (why is he playing summer league?) and looks just as good as he did in college. Obviously not a real test of his weaknesses but at least his rim protection and rebounding is translating well to a higher level of competition.

He moves so well for his height. It's pretty crazy. He could be an interesting project.

Oh Summer league...how thou I love thee. I saw Keyonte George scored 30 last night....then I checked the box score and see he shot 5 for 21. LOL.

Nice first showing for Edey. An underated thing about him is he can play hard for long stretches. In college he never came out of the game. It will be interesting to see if he is more aggressive contesting shots in the pros with shorter runs. Purdue didn't want him to get into foul trouble last year. Last night, Kessler fell trying to score and Edey sprinted right down the floor (after already playing 6-7 minutes) and ran right to the rim that led to a dunk. It was an impressive play.

Jared McCain had a solid first game for PHI. 15pts/6rbd/3ast/2stls on 6/15 from the field. His play reminded me a lot of former 76ers player Andre Miller.

I still have a feeling Morey will be trading him for one of his pet players like PJ Tucker.

Edey looks a lot more fluid here than in college. His ability to seal in the post is one of his best talents.
