Trade & FA 2024-25:
My finger is tired of F5ing
Tyus Jones and Caleb Martin are decent fallback options to keep an eye on

The Bulls offered Zach LaVine to the Warriors for Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul, per @ChrisBHaynes.

Golden State declined, which again says a lot about LaVine’s overall value league-wide right now.

I swear, if that Kyrie trade hadn’t happened this dude would’ve been a Maverick by now and we’d all be way less positive about the team than we are now.

But you are not understanding me either. The "16.19M TPE" is not really a defining number anyhow at any time as to what the Mavs can pay someone - because it is the product of a trade that has not happened (and may not happen like that anyhow), and a TPE does not define what the Mavs can or can't pay a player (the Apron room is what defines that).

I understand that. TPE at this point defines how much Mavs can offer to Thompson without GSW taking additional salary (assuming Mavs clear more money, as we said). But of course, the deal can be expanded in many ways, involving more teams and so on.

At this point I want to see him traded just to see what that trade would look like.

Yep, got it.

It might be worth mentioning that if the Mavs had all the Apron room in the world, that 16.2M TPE could be used to take back a 23.7M salary, simply by combining the trades. That's why I keep mentioning the idea that they are likely to do them together, since that has so much potential to broaden their flexibility.

Well, if I were RC I wouldn't play him that much either.
The Pacers have Siakam, Turner and Toppin who are all way better than him.

On the Mavs, though Maxi is superior to him, we all know Maxi's not always available. At this point we kind of expect him to be unavailable for a third of the season, and almost always in varying degrees of health. So the Mavs only have PJ and half a backup.

And at C, JSmith to me is actually more of a C who can play stretch 4, so he would also play there when the need is a 5 who can shoot.

Klay really having fun watching LA, Dallas and Philly fans bite their nails of? Or are Nico, Klay and others having fun together on his boat while scheming how to also sign Tobias?

Maybe he’s waiting on PG to be official, keeping some remote possibility of a substantially bigger offer alive?

LOL

I know you're not serious, but it reminds me that we have to keep in mind that minutes matter to players, as well as money.  A lot. If the Mavs had signed KT and DJJ, a player like TH wouldn't have any interest in Dallas, because the available role would be so small.

Isn't Harris a PF?
jarace Walker is the best defender out of the 23' class who has been underused by Carlisle imho (he's a good coach but is also notorious for leaving young talents rotten on the bench). his value may be lower than it was on the draft night but it would still cost us something to get him imho. dude needs more playing time so maybe a starting role on a rebuilding team would be the best for him imho.

he wouldn't be happy being PJ's full time backup either. dude would want a good share of minutes at SF as well, which he wouldn't get much with Klay and DJJ both signed.

Hmmm. Did I miss something? Did some other team sign either KT or DJJ?

@All_Things_Mavs Apparently they can start negotiating s&t deals at 9 CT.

@All_Things_Mavs Have no clue if it’s true but the said it on free agent fever on nba tv

Is that true? It would explain the Klay delay. I've just never heard of that before.

#sixers want to land both Paul George and Klay Thompson, if possible, which it might not be.

Have no idea, but my guess would be it's not an actual rule but more of a "this is how long you need to ensure there's no tampering charges" suggestion from the NBA brass

If it were the old regime, I would have assumed that the Mavs believed there was such a rule when the other 29 knew it wasn't the case.
