Told today that Dallas has held some early stage talks with Dereck Lively II on a possible contract extension.
Lively, 22, is eligible for a new deal until Opening Night Eve but played in just seven games in 2025-26 before foot surgery.
It's a gamble for each side. If Dallas really believes his injury was a one-off, now's the time to push for a bargain. Think Brunson before his breakout season.
On Lively's side, what if his injuries are chronic, and this is his last chance to get some money? Wouldn't you give Dallas a discount for the security of a guaranteed payday?
